How to Flash a Cell Phone

The term "flashing" has to do with the type of memory that a cell phone uses. The memory is called Flash memory. Other names it is also known by is EEPROM (electrically erasable reprogrammable Read Only memory) and nand flash. Flash memory differers from traditional ROM that is used in a PC or computer in that it is easier to reprogram but also more resistant to damage such as from drops or breaks. For example if you dropped your desktop computer in some way then there is a strong chance that by doing so you will have lost the memory contained in the ROM as it may reset itself when damaged from a drop or similar action. This is not true with cell phones and similar types of flash memory such as USB Flash Drives. They are more resistant to drops and breaks so the memory in them stays where its at instead of "resetting" itself.

When you flash something, it basically means to program or reprogram the ROM. The ROM contains some of the software or information codes that tell your device how to function. For example if you have a ROM that is customized or a ROM that is from the carrier like Sprint or Verizon it will give instructions to your device about how to act and behave, such as certain icons, available connections you can make, etc... By flashing new ROM's or other programming you may unlock or extend the capabilities of your phone or device from what was otherwise originally intended by the person you purchased it from which in this case for a cell phone would be the carriers like Sprint or Verizon. Typically the carriers want to restrict access to your phone so they program it in such a way as to do that. The way to get those restrictions out of your phone so you can unlock new features, such as being able to use on another carrier, is to flash some new software such as a ROM.

A lot of people want to know about flashing to another carrier. This generally is or is understood to be downloading the carrier files from the carrier you want to use, such as cricket or metropcs, to your phone. Note however that this does not work for all carriers however. The basic reason why it won't work for all carriers is because your phone has certain numbers associated with it's hardware such as serial numbers, ESN numbers, MEID numbers, etc... that are preset and designed so that they, the carriers, only want you to be able to use your phone with the carrier you purchased from. For example if you purchased from Verizon, then you will have a Verizon ESN. The way it works is all of the carriers have a database of these numbers, ESN numbers, that they use when granting service. If your particular ESN number isn't in their database, then the programming will deny you access.

At this time there are only a few ways to get around this. The most common way is to call the carrier you want to use and ask them to "flash" your phone to their network. In order to do this they have to ad your phones ESN number to their database. Usually there is a fee associated with doing this such as about $10. The carriers I know of that will do this are prepaid carriers Cricket and Metropcs. Sprint and other carriers generally will not under any circumstances do it. I believe this is because they have agreements or contracts with each other so they don't compete as much as they have backdoor or behind closed door deals made with each other.

You usually won't need to do this as the carriers will generally do it for you but in order for a phone to work on another carriers network after you have your ESN number in their database which is the Authorization for you to be able to use their service you generally have to have other compatible software as well. What software you need depends on your phone and is entirely different for every phone but you may need to do the following:

Download or update to a new PRL (Preferred Roaming List) for the new carrier you flashed to.

Download or update a new radio/baseband software version for the new carrier so that you are able to receive their specific signals (for example Verizon uses 1900 MHz and Sprint might use a 900 MHz frequency to transmite data)

Other possible though less common softwares are: PRI, checksum, or possibly even a Kernal/OS (kernal is the core programming of the Operating system), ROM, etc...

I tried asking many questions on popular forums to get these answers. At first glance people seemed knowledgeable. I had some experience with Iphone unlocking and jailbreaking iPhone's and sim unlocking blackberries. I was told that I needed to CID unlock a touch pro 2. I repeatedly asked what a CID lock was specifically but was never directly answered. It was always alluded to in conversations, but never spoken of directly in technical or straightforwards terms. I found a few definitions that a CID unlock allows the flashing of new ROM's. I concluded that the CID unlock was the same as the bootloader as to flash a new ROM one has to be in bootloader and you cannot get access to bootloader when you are on stock ROM/unchanged ROM from carrier. The bootloader is also referred to as ROOT access or Superuser access, because it is the Root of your device when the higher programs like the OS (operating system) has not loaded yet, so you effectly have more control. It is similar to boot screen on a pc. The hardware is different from a pc though in that smartphones like the Touch pro 2 or an iphone use flash memory called EEPROM (electrically eraseable reprogrammable read only memory) that is much easier to manipulate than traditional ROM on a desktop with certain techniques but also more resistant to change or damage vs a desktop computer's ROM. To get access to the bootloader/tricolor/rainbow/etc... could be considered a form of unlocking from the original carriers intended use so once done it can be used in different more advanced ways. Once the bootloader or root access is given, then ROM's can be flashed. Additionally, radio's can be flashed as well when they come prepackaged with other stock roms like sprint stock RUU (rom upgrade utility). I would install a stock RUU to get the radio, not necessarily the ROM itself and then reflash a custom ROM like MightyROM for Windows phone or Cydia for iPHone.

The other part to unlocking I found out is the radio. Every radio has certain software that tells it how to function or behave and what signals to collect and what signals to ignore. These are called protocols and are like commands or rules that the radio obeys when functioning. For example a command for the radio could be to connect to a sprint network on 1900 MHz signals. Another command could be ignore signals from Verizon 900 MHz frequencies. Another command that seems to be built into the radio on smartphones is ignore AM/FM frequencies so you can't get traditional radio, although the phone is fully capable of doing so. Part of the reason is because if the radio hardware on your phone picks up too many signals it means it is operating at a faster pace and thus using more electricity and more of the CPU, so there are commands to rule out certain frequencies and that makes it more efficient. The commands have to do with what is called a Radio Interface Layer (RIL). The RIL has two parts a driver and a proxy to communicate with the operating system. So for example you try to connect to Sprint or another carrier on your phone and you go to try to set up a connection in your settings by donig something like Dial Up Networking or Wireless area protocol, Wireless Tether, etc... and you might find that some of them don't work. This is because if the commands are not supported or communicated directly to the RIL then they can be blocked. One way to get around a block is to install new radio software that supports the features or commands that you want to use. Usually the radio software on your phone is also referred to as baseband such as on iphone or android phones in phone settings or device information, about phone section, etc... depending on what type of phone that you have. For example you can take the radio/baseband software that was on an iPad and put it on an iPhone 3gs and get reception from a T-Mobile sim card this way whereas originally with the stock radio/baseband you couldn't.

Now you may also notice that the radio or baseband is also referred to or synomous with modem such as in some connection settings which may say something like, "set up your modem". This is because the modem is the actual device or hardware that picks up radio signals for your phone to use, such as 19oo MHz Sprint or 900 MHz Verizon. A modem is basically an electronic piece of hardware that performs the same or similar functions to a traditional radio that get's radio signals/frequencies. Additionally radio frequencies are invisible and are in the air all the time such as when you turn a car radio on it gets different frequencies or radio stations depending on where you turn the dial, like FM station Z 107.7 or FM station 105.7 the Point. A modem is basically a very tiny piece of hardware that performs the functions of a radio in that it takes invisible radio signals and converts them into data like sound or pictures on the internet.

So basically you have the motherboard on a device like a phone that contains a CPU and a modem/Radio. What signals and rules the radio/modem obeys is determined by the radio software or baseband generally and the radio/modem communicates to the CPU through a RIL or Radio Interface Layer that contains a Driver and a Proxy. The CPU can get it's commands to tell and communicate with the radio/modem in many different ways but the main way is the OS or operating system such as when you are trying to set up a new connection in your phone settings for bluetooth or wifi or something similar it is sending commands from where you are (which is the OS) to the CPU which is communicated with the Modem/Radio via the Radio Interface Layer. Its kind of like having a bunch of guys in the room and guy "A" and Guy "C" want to speak to each other but neither speaks the others language so they need a middle man Guy "B" to translate for them. In this case the RIL is translating infromation between the CPU and the Radio/Modem and so it has all the power between those interactions/communications.

Hopefully that clears things up so far so now I will tell about the 3 common types of locks:

CDMA
SIM
&
ESN

Most people are familiar with SIM lock. Sims are used most places in the world. Usually you just have to enter an unlock code. The other type of lock is a CDMA lock. There is also an unlock code for this. For verizon and U.S. cellular the code is defaulted to 000000. CDMA lock only applies to CDMA phones which operate in the U.S., India, S. Korea, and Japan as of this writing. Most of the other countries only use Sim so they don't have to worry about CDMA. CDMA also works in conjunction with ESN lock. ESN lock has to do with blacklisting or grey listing by mobile phone carriers. If an ESN is blacklisted by a network, then it means it can't be used by that network. To get around this you have to have an ESN put on another network like Cricket or Metropcs. People call this flashing but all you usually have to do is have your CDMA unlock code which is also called the SPC or MSL and is 000000 for Verizon and U.S. cellular but is a random number for sprint. Then you have to install a new PRL file for that carrier once you add your esn to their network. The PRL file is the Preferred Roaming List and pretty much determines what cellular coverage you get. The menu to access, modify, or other wise change the PRL and the cellular coverage in CDMA phones is the MSL SPC codes and it secret ## dialing menu in CDMA mode such as ##775# for changing the PRL. The main thing is to get the Esn added to their network though. Usually Cricket or MetroPCs will add it for you and do all the software changes like the PRL upgrade for a small fee of about $10. Other carriers like Sprint will not usually add an ESN under any circumstances, which is a shame if you want to use sprint and at this time there is no way around this as far as I know other than to already have a sprint phone. If you don't have a sprint phone but you want sprint service, your best course of action would probably be to try and trade someone on craigslist phones. If not you can flash to MetroPCs or Cricket by calling them and asking them to add the esn and update the PRL to use their service. Every phone is different though and this is only a general explanation that seems to apply to most phones.

Information on ESN Spoofing/cloning, legality, and if you can change to sprint

Technically getting your phone over to sprint is possible, but in order to do so you need a new esn to put on the phone that is in Sprint's database. Generally the phones sprint sells have esn's already added to their database and there is supposedly a way that is very troublesome and difficult to also get them to add your esn to their database but concerning esn spoofing or changing...

It is first and foremost not illegal unless you do it for ill gotten gain, such as using two separate phones with the same esn. That however is impossible because the radio/baseband which contains the esn is soldered onto the motherboard and every radio has it's own electronic fingerprint that is unique to the radio so if you try to do this, they will know so that is impossible really. So if you own two phones for example, and you want to swap the esn, it is perfectly legal because:

1. you own the phone and can do whatever you want with it.

The trouble is there is so much secrecy, disinformation, and propaganda. The information is scarce. You know the ancient Egyptians did this very same thing and hid their knowledge so only the "elite" scribes could have it. They purposely made their language difficult to learn so only those with specialized training from the state/pharaoh could learn it!

So the only other way to change your esn besides being an absolute genius and expert at programming and hacking is to phyiscally install a new motherboard with the attached/soldered radio from an actual sprint phone. Unless you can get said phone for cheap because its say, has a broken screen, then it would probably be better just to buy a new phone, which is exactly what Sprint wants you to do!

All supposed programs that claim to change esn are untrustworthy. All of the ones I found online were scanned and found to contain viruses, particularly backdoor trojans. I wouldn't try downloading them if I were you!

At the very least, if you somehow do find a program that can swap the esn for you, you will need to purchase a completely brand new Sprint/boost mobile/virgin mobile phone that has never been activated and use the esn off of it. Once it gets activated its useless because the radio fingerprint has been detected and recorded!

After and if (and that is a big IF!) you do manage to swap the esn you need to reprogram your CDMA phone with the carrier information in the ## secret dialing menu's such as the MCC and MNC (Mobile country code and mobile network code) etc... and download a new sprint PRL. You will most probably also need a new Sprint Baseband/radio/RF modulator software to install to your phone/radio to be able to pick up sprint signals and be compatible. There's basically a checking software that sprint checks for to see if you have the correct information on your phone to be able to work directly on their network. They check for the correct ESN/meid/etc..., the correct radio/baseband, the correct PRL, etc... all of these softwares on your phone have to be compatible and "Synch" up with each other in a sense to be able to work on the network. It's done for the security. They want to have a very tight control on things, but if you are like me, you will want to have control over your own phone and not leave it up to someone else to dictate terms to you.

So the best thing to do, as far as I know, for the time being is to just trade your phone for a sprint phone if you really must use their network. Craigslist is good for that.

I will figure this out eventually, or someone else will, until then sayonara!

How to Get UNLOCK Codes for Verizon, US Cellular, Sprint CDMA SPC MSL and blackberry Secret ## Dialing Codes

To get your SPC/MSL/CDMA UNLOCK/ code to reprogram, access hidden functions and menus, and extend the capabilities of your phone...

VERIZON - Verizon is defaulted to 000000

US Cellular - US Cellular is also defaulted to 00000

Sprint - Call Sprint (Caution! Read below)

To enter your secret code on your phone: ##

ex. enter: ##000000 for blackberry, ##000000# for HTC

For Sprint you must call sprint to access the phones. CAUTION: Do not attempt to download fraudulent programs claiming to be able to unlock your code! Sprint uses random numbers to generate their codes! These codes cannot be guessed so easily! It is impossible to determine what they might be because they are random! The only way would be to have a program to repeatedly guess numbers until it got it right, and that might brick your phone! Programs like UniCDMA, Hex Editor, CDMA workshop that claim to unlock your phone for a free download contain VIRUSES DO NOT DOWNLOAD THEM! People think they are cool if they can put a virus on your computer! They will attach it in the file and trick you into downloading it! Don't get tricked and have your virus software on always! These people did not make the viruses, they just think they are cool because they know how to attach them to a file and trick someone into getting it!

Solution: Call sprint and tell them you would like your reprogramming code. Ask them for the msl code. If your account is in good standing (I.e. no debt on the phone) they will most likely give it to you. If not try telling them an excuse like, "I am going to Cuba where there isn't normal diplomatic relations and Sprint/boost mobile/Virgin mobile does not offer service and the carrier needs my msl code to reprogram my phone to be able to use it there." This is called social engineering.

Part 2: Secret Codes

Most secret codes can be found online. The only possible exception would be blackberries. There doesn't seem to be a complete list of all the numbers, I believe I have collected most of them though.

The following secret code is available to all blackberry users, regardless of whether or not they have the msl/spc/CDMA unlock code: #4357*

Sprint/Boost Mobile/Virgin Mobile may give you two unlock codes, you can enter them both to do different things in the same ## format. It will bring up a list of data about your phone. Most of the data refers to how your phone receives and transmits signals or data. You can modify and change to make your phone do such things as: Go faster/higher data speed, get better coverage, expand or change your coverage to receive different cell towers/operators/carriers.

Here are some Blackberry codes that I know of:

How To unlock and Jailbreak any Iphone

This article is not exactly on Topic with my blog and is the second such article I have written concerning smartphone hacking techniques. It will stay here until I figure out what to do with these>

Unlocking and Jailbreaking might be difficult if you have never done this sort of thing before but once you do it the first time you will realize how easy it is. The trouble with iphone unlocking is there is so much gosh darn spam on the internet. Everyone seems to want to make a buck. I like money too, which is why I have ads on this blog, but I think I am different because I will only attempt to tell you the truth and not try to sidetrack you with nonsense just to make some money. I created this guide to try to counteract some of the disinformation on the internet about iphone unlocking BUT I AM NOT THE AUTHORITY ON THIS AND I RECOMMEND YOU CONSULT A VARIETY OF GUIDES< NOT JUST MINE< HOWEVER I"M PRETTY SURE EVERYTHING I WRITE IS ACCURATE AND I HAVE PERSONALLY TESTED AND DONE THIS!

The first thing you will need to do is see what your firmware version is and your baseband/modem version is. There are generally two ways to do this:

1. Check your iphone in Settings > General > About

2. If your phone is without an official sim card then it is impossible to check the settings or do anything with your phone except restore in recovery on itunes WHICH YOU DO NOT WANT TO DO. In this case in order to check the firmware versions you will need some help. Tinyumbrella works for this. It is easy to download and very useful for a number of things. We will be using this again depending on what the status is of your own particular iphone. Download tiny umbrella by google searching for it or go here: http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/

Once you have determined your firmware and baseband/modem versions the next thing you need to do is figure out if they are compatible with the unlock. Generally you may need to restore your phone to an older version. All of the firmware versions for the iphone are listed below. You will need to find the one you need. I would recommend either downloading 4.1 or 4.2.1 as those are the most recent versions that are unlockable (version 4.3 is not yet unlocked by anyone). In order to download an older firmware version you need to shit SHIFT and ALT together on your keyboard (It may just be SHIFT, I'm not too sure I always press ALT and that works too so eh :p) and once you are holding down SHIFT and ALT together click the RESTORE button in ITUNES. The next thing that should happen is your computer will pull up a list of files. You need to find the firmware version you downloaded and select it. Itunes should now restore your phone to that version if you did correctly.

Warning: FIRMWARE DOWNLOAD ALSO CHANGES THE BASEBAND/MODEM Version. Pay careful attention to this. The latest baseband which somes with the newest firmware version 4.3 is non-unlockable, that is why people say not to download it! If you do download it, you can still unlock your phone and restore to an older version but on this particular unlock the GPS will not work! I do not think the GPS system is that great to begin with so not too bad of a loss, but you have been WARNED! If you do have version 4.3 you will need to install either version 4.1 or 4.2(.1) and then you will need to also download ultrasn0w to upgrade your baseband to the ipad baseband version 6.15 in order to unlock. This is further explained below.

Once you have your firmware downloaded that you need the next step is to change your baseband. One way to change the baseband is an application on Cydia called Fuzzyband. Cydia is the third part app store that almost everyone who has a Jailbroken iphone uses so in order to gain access to Cydia you will need to Jailbreak your iphone. You will need Cydia anyways for Ultrasn0w which is the unlocking Software that I am recommending to use in this guide (although there are others, they are not nearly as good)

In order to Jailbreak you need to Download Limera1n Limera1n was created by Geohot who was the first person to ever unlock an iphone a couple years back. It is very much so the recommended software for Jailbreaking and is very easy to use. Just download and follow the instructions.

Once you have your iphone Jailbroken you need to you unlock it. The easiest way to do this is to download Cydia and from Cydia go and download Ultrasn0w. The easiest way to download cydia is to just go to the Cydia website from your iphone. But what if you don't have internet access like wifi on your iphone yet? There is a Solution: Download redsn0w. With redsn0w on your computer you can launch the file and follow the instructions and it will download Cydia for you. There are other things Redsn0w can do as well but I don't feel I need to get into all of that but you will need to check the IPAd Baseband install if your baseband/modem version is 5.15 because the 5.15 baseband is not able to be unlocked at this time. Doing this will update your baseband to 6.15 which is the same as the Ipad (hence why it's called IPad baseband). Now there are some risks with the 6.15 baseband but if you want to know about them I recommend you do a google search because I don't think they are that risky and I don't want to explain that and waste my own time and effort typing some silly disclaimer. If you are trying to unlock Iphone or Ipad, etc... then you should already know the risks. This is HACKING! Just follow the instructions on redsn0w. Download: Download RedSn0w 0.9.6b1

Once you have Cydia installed either by going to the cydia website or installing from your computer using Redsn0w you can now proceed to unlock your phone by using Ultrasn0w. Now for this part you really do need an internet connection. The easiest way would probably be to use the WIFI. If you don't have WIFI at home go to the Library or Mcdonalds or something and use theirs. It should only take a few minutes to do this last part and the total process can be achieved by most people within an hour or less and for an experienced user can take a matter of 10-15 minutes. That is how easy this is IF YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO

So here is the last step to Unlock Iphone:

Go into Cydia.

Click manage

Click Sources

Look for Repo666 Ultrasn0w.

Install.

Test a Sim card like T mobile or Simple Mobile. Should be unlocked. Congratulations. You just hacked your iphone! :D Way to stick it to the man!

Ice Cream Sundaes and Dueling - Why people SLANDER one another

Yesterday Google celebrated the birth of the ice cream sundae. I was curious to find out more about this and I discovered that there was a strong dispute as to who get's to claim the right as the birthplace of the ice cream sundae. The credit usually goes (and the one google has also chosen) to Ithaca New York. The above image was taken circa 1901 and is in one of the historical depositories of the United States of America. The city pictured is Ithaca, New York. Ithaca was named after a Greek Island and the name was chosen by a clerk at the time by the name of Robert Harpur. Harpur had many professions, not the least of which was a clerk during this time and he was primarily a teacher and scholar in his greatest capacity because one of his pupils was none other than Alexander Hamilton. Harpur had an interest in ancient Greek and Roman history as was common of the time as there was quite a lot of fervor surrounding the classical ideals that had a large influence on the founding fathers of the United States. I would like the reader to notice the apparent "cleanliness" of the city, for lack of a better term, and how there are no automobiles present yet people seem to be quite busy. You will also notice power lines which carry electricity and were a relatively recent invention at the time. Everyone is well addressed. I hope you will agree that these people are Ladies and Gentlemen. Please contrast that with the current state of affairs today. We do not currently have this level of decency I think and the contrast is stark. So what changed?

I have studied much history and I have to think the difference between then and now is fear. In the modern age of today people don't seem to have much fear. They say what they want, when they want no matter if it is appropriate or not. Back then people wouldn't do that because if they did they might get into a fight. Today if you get into a fight you will most probably be going to jail, so anyone can say what they want, but back then if you said something that was thought to be inappropriate you would often times be in a fight. That is why, I think, that largely people had fear. The formal practice of fighting has typically been known as dueling. We no longer use that term and dueling has since been outlawed in much of the world, so people say what when they want.

There is an irony here in the fact that Alexander Hamilton was killed in a duel by none other than Aaron Burr. This has a lot to do with Thomas Jefferson. The reason is because Hamilton and Jefferson were often in dispute with one another. Hamilton was the one who started the Federal Reserve and Thomas Jefferson would often argue and fight against that. I have not discovered any accurate sources for determining when dueling stopped in the United States but it seems to have taken a downturn at this time as Alexander Hamilton was well liked. Personally I do not care for Alexander Hamilton and I don't think Thomas Jefferson did either. The dispute was so heavy that it resulted in a duel between Hamilton and Burr. Burr was a close acquittance of Thomas Jefferson. So if we say that dueling was largely a safety net against debauchery and sinful nature in the case of people blaspheming against one another, you can see it's quite ironic that the person who would name the city would have been the teacher of Hamilton who was largely responsible, due to public outcry in a sense to his death since he was well liked, for the eventual downfall and outlawing in dueling. There were basically two factions: Those who believed disputes should only be settled in courts of law, and those who believe dueling could also be used, in addition to courts of law, to settle disputes. I am personally of the former class and believe that dueling, though violent, serves a great purpose in keeping order in society and preventing men from blaspheming and sinning against each other. If you have ever been in the position where someone was blaspheming and slandering you, you might digress that you would have certainly liked to have challenged and fought that person, and you might also digress that taken the person to court, most of the time, is a waste of time and effort which doesn't usually accomplish anything to the greater effect. So that is why people call you names and there is nothing you can do about it except slander and insult them back.

Non-Existence, Existence, Being, Becoming

No one knows what doesn't exist because it doesn't exist, so anything that is conceived has existence and so must exist. Creation therefor begins with existence. Existence is then also what anyone imagines, dreams, has ideas of, or thinks about. In order for that which exists to come into being it has to engage in becoming. That which is being will change but that which exists never changes; that is how ideas are lost and rediscovered and things may go and come again. The things which are being change with time but the things which exist do not change with time. That which exists is the essence of that which is being. In order for being to occur it has to first exist. Being is therefor an extension of existence. To be you have to know what to be which is to exist. That is what is meant by the phrase, "I am". We may know and have the knowledge of our own existence, but any knowledge beyond that is speculation.

Being occurs out of becoming which occurs out of existing. Everything that is being and becoming has change or time and so is governed by change and time. If that which is being or becoming loses change or time, then it is no longer being but it is still existing, because things which only exist such as ideas or knowledge, do not change with time and can be lost and rediscovered. That is why becoming what to be takes time but existence and ideas are timeless.

Because of time there is not a permanent state of being as all being is constantly in change. Being is therefor not an absolute and to think it is is an illusion the same as thinking that something doesn't exist is an illusion because one cannot know what doesn't exist because it doesn't exist. Since there is truly no NON-EXISTENCE and there is truly no BEING then all that remains is existing and becoming. That is why it is said, "Be what thou will."

Things that are relegated to time are changing in Time and so are impermanent. Knowledge of the things however does not change as knowledge is lost and rediscovered. The knowledge is the essence of the thing. The essence of a thing remains the same but its outward materialism is constant change.

Knowledge of a thing leads to awareness. I am or a thing is because it exists but because I or a thing knows or has knowledge of its existence makes it/me aware. Knowledge is gained through interaction such as through senses, experience, reason, or any other type of feedback system. Knowledge of a thing enables one to potentially control and impose will on that thing. Knowledge of self leads to control over the self which controls the things. Q: What do I have to do to install a new ROM?

A: You need to install the HSPL (Hard Secondary Program Loader) to be able to install new ROMS. If you have a CDMA Phone you can only install CDMA ROM'S (i.e. Sprint, Verizon, U.S. Cellular, etc...) if you have a GSM version you can only install GSM ROM'S (i.e. T-Mobile, At&t, etc...) However either CDMA or GSM can install Custom ROM such as the MIGHTY ROM with no difficulties once/after the HSPL is installed.

Q: Can I flash My Verizon/Sprint/U.S. Cellular TP2 to another carrier?

A: You Can but ONLY IF IT IS A CDMA VERSION. A CDMA VERSION IS U.S. CELLULAR, SPRINT, or VERIZON. If you try to flash to a GSM, your phone will be bricked. In ORDER TO FLASH YOU MUST INSTALL THE HSPL UNLOCKER! It is not recommended that you install a carriers ROM as GSM and CDMA are USUALLY INCOMPATIBLE! The Carrier ROM'S are SLOW! Install the Mighty ROM! It is BETTER! It has Provisioning for All of the carriers! The only reason to install another carriers ROM is usually to get certain software other than the ROM itself that comes bundled in what's called a RUU (ROM UPGRADE UTILITY) like the RADIO/BASEBAND, but after getting it you would want to flash back to the ROM of your choice and the RADIO will stay on your phone even though you changed to a custom ROM.

Q: Why won't my phone work in another GSM/SIM card/carrier even though it says the SIM is unlocked?

A: There is a Security Mechanism in the phone preventing you. You must install a new Radio to get around this.

Q:Can I use my T-Mobile or At&t Sim card in a U.S. Cellular, Sprint, Or Verizon Phone?

A: No. Only T-Mobile and At&t use sim cards. They are called GSM networks. Sprint/Boost Mobile/Virgin Mobile, U.S. Cellular, & Verizon are and use Wireless technology that doesn't need sim cards and is called CDMA. Some Boost mobile Phones may also use sim cards for IDEN technology which they use that was developed by Motorola. All of the different technologies: GSM, CDMA, And iDEN are generally incompatible with each other, and you need specific hardware in your phone for each. That's why there are a lot of Motorola phones on boost mobile.

Q: What ROM and Software is on my phone?

A: Go into start menu > Settings > System > Device Information > Software information.

Q: Is this Free?

A: It is Free for the U.S. Cellular Version. I have not tested if this will work on any of the other carriers phones (Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, At&t Tilt 2, Etc...) I am assuming it isn't. If you do not have a U.S. Cellular version ~~you will probably need to purchase the Olipro & Cmonex Unlocker from XDA~~. You may also make a donation to XDA or any of the XDA members who spend a considerable amount of their time figuring out how to get the most out of smartphones. It is much appreciated if you can afford to do so, but may or may not be absolutely necessary. This method may still be your best chance at unlocking as other unlocking methods such as XDA have negative reviews. It is a known fact that the younger generations are more into their smartphones and generally more capable at using them than the older generations. I haven't figured out how and if I want to incorporate this article or this topic into blogging. I have another blog made that I haven't touched but I'm reluctant to make two because that takes more time to do everything, and time is really valuable since I can never get it back again.

The HTC Touch Pro 2 for U.S. Cellular Network is not Sim locked it is "Radio Locked". If you are reading this it is assumed you have an htc touch pro 2 for u.s. cellular and are wondering why another sim card won't work in it, (however if you have another Touch Pro 2 other than U.S. Cellular, you may also get instruction for what to do by reading this). You may also notice that your U.S. Cellular Touch Pro 2 already says the "Sim is Unlocked" when you try to access the "Sim App". This is because the U.S. Cellular Version of the HTC Touch Pro 2 appears to employ a different carrier locking mechanism (Also called CID or Carrier ID lock) which I believe has to do with it being tied into CDMA only. The SIM hardware is basically there, you just can't get access to it. This apparently has to do with your radio version more than anything. From what I gather, the firmware or ROM as well as the Radio Version/software that is on the U.S. cellular phone is blocking all other radio signals except those which come from U.S. cellular (Note: this only seems to occur for U.S. carriers like ATT, T-mobile USA, or Boost Mobile). So even though your phone's antenna is quite capable of picking up extra signals, because of the extra programming installed in the phone by U.S. cellular, you simply can't use it. This is like buying a car but not being able to use the back seat. If you do not have an HTC Touch Pro 2 for U.S. Cellular but it is on another carrier then you should only have to Sim Unlock it as they don't use the same method as T-mobile of locking the radio frequencies, although I believe the Sprint and U.S. Cellular Version are very similar, as they are both what are called the Rhodium400 versions of the phone.

Solution:

If you absolutely must unlock your U.S. Cellular Phone you must rewrite the ROM. This is called flashing. Its not as difficult as it sounds but you can mess up and damage your phone if you are not careful. In order to do it you first have to find the ROM you want to use on the net. You can use a Custom ROM which are generally unstable and can damage your phone or try writing over the ROM from another carrier which you can usually either get on that carriers website or the website of the maker of your phone such as HTC website. You will basically need to find it, download it, then USB plug your phone into computer, then go through the set up to transfer the files into your phone. There are a lot of different videos on a lot of different custom ROMS. Youtube video tutorials would probably be the best place to find one and not spend as much time as you can see in the videos and make your own determinations. If you try to load the ROM from another carrier there is a good possibility that it will immediately BRICK your phone because the U.S. cellular phone is set up specifically to respond harshly to the other carriers programming or technology, which is why you can't use it in the first place. In order to load another ROM though you have to unlock that ability. Do this with a hard SPL (Secondary Program Loader). There are other phones that are exhibiting the same advanced locking mechanisms. Notably the Verizon Droid Pro will not unlock for any other U.S. carriers even though it has the proper radio bands and frequencies. This is demonstrated in an informative video on youtube:

The main thing you have to do is unlock the radio frequencies/radio bands. Those are the frequencies that the other carriers use. The problem is the method for doing that is not sim unlock because the ROM/Firmware on the U.S. Cell HTC touch pro 2 is heavily designed to reject any Sim attempts or unlocking attempts so if you try to flash one of the above radios to the U.S. Cellular phone after installing the HSPL, it will brick your phone into what's called the Bootloader (Also called Tricolor screen) where you will be unable to exit until you install another ROM.

But, first you have to change your radio also. Just downloading a Custom ROM won't do that, and since you can't download the above radio the only other alternative is to download a stock ROM from another carrier. WARNING: IF YOU TRY TO INSTALL A GSM CARRIERS ROM (SUCH AS T-MOBILE or ATT) YOUR PHONE WILL BE BRICKED

So, basically you need to download the ROM from another CDMA carrier in order to get the radio that comes with the stock ROMs. In this case I used Sprint as the Sprint and U.S. Cellular versions of the Touch pro 2 a.k.a Rhodium400 are very similar. You can download the sprint ROM @ http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/cdma-tp2-development/91940-stock-rom-collection-rho... I used the Second To last link, it has 1.96WF in the file description/address.

After you download the Sprint ROM your phone will say Sprint and look like a Sprint TP2 but it will still be tied into CDMA mode for U.S. cellular only. However we did change the radio version, which is the main thing. The next thing to do is install the Custom ROM Mighty ROM @ http://www.mightyrom.com/mightyrom/touch-pro-2/ After you do so, you should be able to use any sim. "ActiveSync :This program by Microsoft is what we all use to connect to our computers at work or at home. It allows contacts, tasks, emails and Calendar events to be synchronised with Outlookaswell as such things as media and favorites. In Windows Vista this has been replaced by the Windows Mobile Device Center. In addition ActiveSync allows browsing of the device in Windows Explorer.

AKU: Adaptation Kit Update - they usually patch up existing bugs and enable several new features. Each newly released AKU pack retains fixes found in previous versions of AKU. Starting with Windows Mobile 5 Microsoft began a policy of updates similar to that of the desktop windows. Rather the replacing the whole OS some functionality may be added. For example AKU 2.0 introduced push mail. These updates are distributed through the OEMs and are given to the consumer in form of ROM updates. Note that OEM may choose not to create an update with the latest AKU for their devices. Getting an AKU for your phone is like getting the SP2 (Service Pack 2) for your Windows Xp.

Application Unlock: Most Windows Mobile devices only allow you to load applications that have an acceptable digital signature. If you try to edit the registry or load an application it will give you an error. Application Unlocking removes this barrier and allows you to install any application or edit the registry to your liking.

Baked ROM : that the original shipped complete ROM (CE, Extended and radio) has been modified. A Baked ROM could have a CE ROM from one operator, a Radio stack from a second operator, an Extended ROM from a third operator or even a �cooked� extended ROM.

Bootloader : The bootloader is the first thing to load once you turn on the device, this does the job of booting up the device hardware and loading various items into memory before the ROM starts in the device. The bootloader is also responsible for enabling the flashing of new ROMs and other components such as the Radio and the Ext_ROM. Two modified bootloaders for the Hermes are HardSPL and SSPL. To enter the bootloader, press and hold the OK and POWER buttons while inserting the stylus into the reset hole on the bottom of the Hermes.

.CAB Files : Cabinet - is the Microsoft Windows native compressed archive format. cab files are files used to install programs. cab files are similar to what you might know as .exe files from your PC. cab files can be downloaded directly to your Hermes with Wifi or GPRS, you can also transfer them to your Hermes using File Explorer on your PC. cab files are not supposed to be unpacked/unzipped on the PC. Copy the intact .cab file as you downloaded it directly to your Hermes

Chef / Cook : Its a term coined by the developer community to refer to people who build custom ROMs ( ie; people who cooks ROM ).

CID lock (aka vendor lock): Carrier Id - put on your device by the manufacturer to prevent installation of a ROM not released by them. Commonly used in the form `CID-Unlocking`. If you purchase your phone (example) from 3Mobile (3Mobile is the �carrier�), your phone will only accept 3Mobile ROMs (the carrier�s ROMs). If you want to flash ROMs from other carrier, you�ll need to CID-unlock your phone, so that your phone will accept other ROMs. All bootloaders (apart from HardSPL and SSPL) will only allow a ROM with the correct CID to be flashed onto the device. A device which has been CID unlocked will have �SuperCID� which allows ANY ROM to be loaded onto the device, SuperCID also unlocks the Ext_ROM and allows it to be mounted. Note: In general, the phrase �unlock your phone� usually refers to SIM-unlock, not CID unlock.

Cooked ROM : means that the ROM has been modified with other files

CustomRUU: is an RUU (Rom Upgrade Utility) which has support for all SPL versions including HardSPL and SSPL.

Device Lock : The device lock is a today screen plugin that locks all the buttons (and the touch screen) until you unlock it, it will allow you to answer calls. To use it simply tap the �device unlocked� today item and it will lock the device, to unlock press the left hand soft key and tap the unlock button on screen.

ExtROM: Extended ROM - is the section of the ROM which the distributor of the phone (eg O2, T-Mobile, iMate, etc) store their customization (eg Today theme, ring tones, extra software) data. In WM5, the customization data will be automatically installed after the initial configuration (after every hardreset), just after the security section. In most cases, ExtROM can be unlocked to allow users to store/build their own customizations that will be automatically installed upon every hardreset.

Firmware: This is a piece of software that is stored in a device to make it function. It is, unlike ordinary software, usually semi-permanent and resides in a non-volatile storage area which is unaffected by �hard resetting� a device. The term usually refers to low-level code that controls individual hardware components such as a radio rom.

Flashing : a ROM is the process putting a new ROM on your device or otherwise know as upgrading.

Hard Reset : Switch the device off. Press and hold the Left SOFT KEY and Right SOFT KEY, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the bottom of your device. You will be presented with a menu saying �press R to reset, X to exit�. If you press R, your device will be set back to factory default settings. Hard Reset will delete all data you have put on the device: Programs, Settings, Mail, SMS, MMS, etc., so be careful and make a backup before doing this. After a hard reset, you will have a complete clean new install of Windows Mobile on your device. Data on \Storage Card & \Extended_Rom folder will not be deleted

HardSPL : This modified bootloader (by Olipro>>xda-developers) allows a much safer flashing process to take place since it reduces the chance of permenently bricking your Hermes device. It also removes the need to CID Unlock the device since it ALWAYS reports SuperCID when flashing.

IPL: Initial Program Loader - It boots up SPL. Its the bootloader for PPC, much like the BIOS is the boot loader for your PC. Note: IPL/SPL are highly hardware dependent, flashing the wrong IPL/SPL is much more serious than a flashing the wrong ROM. It may be noted that, sometimes a ROM package also contains the IPL/SPL which will be flashed into your phone. Hence be extra careful what you are flashing. Note: although a ROM may also contains the IPL/SPL

OEM : Original Equipment Manufacturer - is a company that supplied equipment to other companies to resell or incorporate into another product using the reseller�s brand name.

OS: Operating System - the platform software for your phone, much like the Windows Xp/Vista for your PC. Upgrading the OS is like, in PC terms upgrading from Windows XP to Windows Vista. Os for PPC are WM2002, WM 2003, WM2003SE, WM5, WM6

PIE : Pocket Internet Explorer - is the default browser that comes with the Windows Mobile Operating System.

PPC : Pocket PC - is a hardware specification for a Personal digital assistant that runs the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system.

Program memory: The non-persistent memory part of WM5, which is used for all the temporary memory requirements, much like the RAM of your PC. A soft-reset or flat battery will erase everything from the program memory. You can�t adjust the ratio of Storage memory and Program memory in WM5 like WinCE2003.

Radio: commonly used in the form `upgrading the Radio/GSM` - in the field of ROM upgrading. The `Radio` is essentially a ROM that controls the phone function part (as oppose to PDA function part) of your phone. Upgrading this `Radio` software may have effect on your phone reception quality, battery life (optimized phone function), signal strength, etc.

RIL: Radio Interface Layer -

ROM: Read Only Memory - commonly used in the form of `ROM upgrade`. The ROM is the firmware/software, which controls everything on your phone. ROM itself usually comes in a package, with IPL/SPL, OS, Radio, and ExtRom. However, in most cases, `upgrading a ROM` usually means just the OS and the ExtRom, as these are the obvious/visible part of an ROM upgrade.

RTM : Release to Manufacturing or Ready to Market.

RUU: ROM Upgrade Utility - Its the s/w used on your PC to do a ROM upgrade for your PPC

SIP : Software Input Panel - for devices that does not have a hardware keyboard the SIP is used to enter data on to the PPC eg: the software keyboard, Symbol Pad, Block Recoganizer, etc . Note : SIP can also stand for Session Initiation Protocol , check the wikipedia entry SIP as a voice over IP protocol.

Smartphone : Pre WM6 class, Smartphone is defined as a mobile phone which offers advanced capabilities like that of a PC. It will not have a touchscreen as compared to a Pocket PC. With the introduction of WM6 all mobile phone devices running Windows Mobile are no classed as Windows Mobile powered Smartphones

Soft Reset : Put your stylus in the hole in the lower left corner. Soft Reset will reboot your device just like when you reboot your PC. No data will be lost, under normal circumstances.

SPL: Secondary Program Loader - Loads the actual OS.

SSPL : is a modified bootloader (by Des) which is loaded into RAM when run, this allows us to overwrite any aspect of the ROM, Radio or Bootloader far easier than using mtty.

I believe in magic. I think everyone should believe in magic also. The reason I believe in magic is because as far as I know anything can become real and to me that classifies as magic. In order to make something become real though there is a process that goes something like this:

The Next step is Believing. But arguably believing starts first too because in order to imagine you have to believe you can. Its really ironic when you think of it that way, that you have to believe you can imagine in order to imagine, but really belief has a lot to do with confidence. You must know that you are capable of doing certain things, but in order to find out what those things are, you have to believe first to experience them, like in the case of imagination. The next step is to rationalize it. We use reason for many different reasons. Namely we want to know good from bad and the truth. So reason is our safety net. We have some knowledge already usually so that we can compare new knowledge with old knowledge thereby rationalize new ideas in order to make them work with the ideas we already have. Some ideas it comes very easy, other ideas like faith can be more difficult as it can be quite difficult to rationalize faith for some people, especially if you haven't really experienced it a lot in your life yet. In order to experience faith you first have to imagine and believe it like anything. But you won't be able to do that either if you can't rationalize it. So if faith can't withstand your doubt, which can be the opposite of faith, then you won't be able to use it. This just sometimes happens. Some people can be very analytical and over logical for example, and miss a lot of human emotion in the process. The goal is not to remove human emotion because it seems illogical or because it can lead to suffering from desire that don't always get fulfilled but to balance and control it with everything else that we know ourselves to be.

The reason that reason causes so many problems is because people will sometimes get trapped into thinking that something is absolutely real in the utmost sense that really isn't. To explain, imagine that in order to imagine you have to rationalize that you can do it. The way to do that might be seeing someone else imagine first. When you are a child, you are told to imagine, such as in school or engaging in some artistic activity. Because you can see art, you know that you can imagine such things too. But what if there was no art? Would you still think to imagine things on paper?

If you have a closed mind, and you do not reach into the unknown, then yes, you will never think to imagine such things. Imagination has a lot to do with creativity. From that point, implementing it becomes natural, because in the course of designing it, as in the case of putting it on paper for art, we have done most of the work. Reality

Reality is a collection of beliefs about what you think is true. You might think it is true, but you would be wrong. Chances are your entire world view of what you consider to be reality is flawed in some way or another, making your entire word schema and fundamental beliefs to be corrupted. That is not only the nature of yourself, but of everyone. That is because no one is perfect, though we try to be, no one is. We all know that. So things are really just really really relative to consider it in perspective. Everyone has varying degrees of correctness and incorrectness, and no one can really tell perfectly well how things truly should be except for one very specific type of person: a child.

I will now proceed to tell you of two of the most famous maxims in philosophy: Divine Utterances from two of the greatest Philosophers of all time:

"I am only wise insofar as what I don't know, I don't think I know"

Sometimes said as:

"I know nothing"

-Socrates 300 b.c. (whom taught Plato, whom taught Aristotle, whom Taught Alexander the Great who conquered the world and others like Ptolemy who went to rule it afterwards)

The conclusion is that only children know nothing and are hence free to think and believe as they will. As we become adults we gain knowledge (Of good and evil) and that has a profound effect on our minds. Knowledge tends to radically change a person especially as that knowledge may involve beliefs.

The trick is to be a philosopher. Philosophers are a lot like children. They have a lot of questions and they are not afraid to ask them. They are immensely curious about everything because to them the realm of possibilities is unknown and therefore they have the inclination of thinking everything is limitless. They have no concepts of history, war, or anything violent of that sort, that comes much later. Once a person starts to learn about those things it has effect of influencing and changing their former beliefs about everything being possible and wondrous. Things become dull, bleak, and sad.

We already know how to be like children. The trick is actually doing it. In the words of master Yoda, "There is no try, only Do" and of the Matrix, "do you really think that's air you're breathing?"

When evil is afoot, it is our duty to fight against it. We must not let it affect our personality to cause us sadness, that would be giving it power and control. We must always refuse to give in, must always refuse to accept evil and always fight for good because the world is what we make it. The automobile did not exist until a man invented it. That man (two men Acutually Benz and Daimler) had to first conceive the concept in his mind. Automobiles, unlike rocks, are not abundant in nature unfortunately. In this sense the automobile was real before it was a physical thing as it existed as an idea and on paper before it did as a hunk of metal. The same is true for everything else. Everything has an essence like a spirit. We think of the essence or spirit of a thing as ideas. Ideas are not physical tangible things though, but they still exist. This is a lot like what we might think of as magic. A thing which is non physical and non tangible, yet completely and absolutely wonderous: we make the unreal become real.

My struggle (in Faith)

The scientific method is given as the method for determining truth.

The scientific method neither applies only to science nor did it originate in science.

The term science itself is a modern connotation. The process of verifying facts is a natural one: Humans are naturally endowed with the ability to determine truth.

The method is simplified as "trial and error". If a thing works, success, if it doesn't back to the drawing board.

At first, humans only thought to use their senses: Eyes, ears, taste, touch; physical things belonging to the flesh.

Eventually, more and more, men began to reason. Some things couldn't be seen with the eyes or touched with the hands. Gravity is one such example.

One cannot see, touch, taste, feel, or hear gravity. It is completely invisible and is not really a thing of itself, but rather a product of other things. (current understanding is that it is space-time itself)

Now consider that Issac Newton was the first to really formulate it, to describe it with mathematical symbols called numbers which are symbolic representations of values that are quite useful for reasoning.

Reason itself is not physical, it is abstract, a product of something else.

So what would be the difference from reason and faith exactly?

Very little according to what I know and have so far written.

Faith, in actuality, is exactly like reason. You could really say that there is a reason for faith, just like you might say there is a reason for everything, or everything has a purpose, a place, a time, etc...

People decide to have faith, because they have a reason to do so. Faith is based on what you don't see, but what you have evidence for.

Newton couldn't see gravity, but he had all the evidence in the world for it. Newton had evidence for something that he couldn't see, hear, feel, taste, or touch.

Newton's ideas did not require sight, touch, taste, or hearing. Newton's ideas required the intellect to be understood. It was verified through abstract methods of mathematical ideas, and taken in faith to be true. Before him, physics, and to a large part the scientific method, was virtually non-existent.

Now what if I told you the scientific method is stated in Hebrews 11:11, albeit in somewhat different wording?

How to have Faith

Faith is a wonderful ability and powerful tool in our lives if we choose to use it. Most I would think are familiar with the concept of faith healing or healing by faith. In the medical profession this is generally termed a placebo. The placebo is a very important concept in medicine and it is used extensively, particularly in medical testing. When drug companies are testing a new drug, they need a control group to test it against and compare it to. The control group in this situation is the placebo. A placebo is actually an inert substance, usually sugar, that is given to the patient and appears the same as the other "legitimate" pills which contain the active drug that is supposed to cause some sort of affect within the body such as alleviating pain or some type of bodily healing. The strange thing is though, that often enough, patients who are given "fake" placebo's are sometimes healed just as effectively as if they had been given the real drug. The reason is faith.

When a person believes they will be healed by ingesting a pill, even though that pill is inert, then apparently, as far as anyone can tell, then they are healed. That is to say, they are healed by their belief that they will be healed; by their faith. No doctor or medical professional has so far been able to scientifically explain this, but that doesn't necessarily negate the value of placebo's in the first place from the medical community, which is why they are still used extensively, but it does create quite a stir among them. Intelligent people and people of authority, like doctors, just hate when they aren't able to explain a thing. As a result, a lot of times most people have no idea what placebo's are or how they work. In a way, the placebo discredits the doctors and the medical community, because if people can be healed by some simple sugar wrapped up real nicely in pill form, then why do we need doctors?

But we really do need doctors, so you can see there is quite a lot of disinformation on this topic, which I would really rather not go any further on as it may lead to a rant on corruption, bigotry, and ignorance. So instead I will focus on faith: What it is (or at least what I think), how it works, what it can do, etc... To do that though, I have to get religious. Well.... perhaps I wouldn't myself consider this to be religion, as I believe I am fairly objective overall, with very little subjectivity compared to most so as to remain unbiased to better understand and comprehend the truth. But I can see how someone might.

Faith is really the topic of spirituality then and as a result is firmly entrenched in religion. It is very difficult to talk about faith without also touching on religion but as I said I will be doing my best to remain objective. Personally I prefer not to think of myself as religious, but spiritual, however I do feel a strong attraction to Christianity as preached out by Jesus Christ in the New Testament, so that is what I will be focusing on, as it is really the source of my interest to begin with.

As a young man I struggled with faith. I am naturally a logical person, and that makes me skeptical. I was never raised religious and rarely went to church as a child and teenager. God was rarely, if ever, spoken of in my immediate family. Ironically however, I took an interest in the bible at an early age. I remember one of the few times I did go to church, I think once to be exact, possibly twice but I don't really recall, was when I was about 8 years old. When I came back from church, I had my very own bible, which I started reading. I remember vividly reading it and reading revelation. At the time it seemed amazing to me (still does). I wondered at the words written and was so fascinated that I traced the bible.

When I say I traced the bible. I literally mean I traced the bible. I don't know why I did this, it just seemed like a cool thing for me to do. I held the bible up to a window, placed a blank piece of paper over the front, and started tracing the words one by one. In hindsight, looking back, that seems a very strange thing for an 8 year old child to be doing. Especially one who had never, to his memory, attended church before in his life.

That was the last I really thought of the bible or religion and spirituality again for a long time. When I was 15, that all changed again.

When I was 14, almost 15, a year or so after my mother remarried, I was made to go to church. I naturally resisted. At this time in my life I was very interested in books. I read all sorts of books, mainly classics and encyclopedia's. These were the day's before I knew of Wikipedia, and Wikipedia at this time was only a year old I believe so I used old fashioned encyclopedia's in paper/book form in my pursuit of knowledge. The classics I read were some of the very best: The Odyssey, Don Quixote, Animal Farm, The Catcher in the Rye, and even Harry Potter (ok, maybe not all classics). I also started listening to the radio a lot. I would listen for music, then I began listening to talk radio shows like NPR and even, believe it or not, Rush Limbaugh. I was very impressionable at this age, as I imagine most are, and absorbing massive amounts of knowledge and information about the world I was in. Eventually me listening to the radio I chanced upon another type of program, one that was of a religious nature.

I remember listening for long periods of time. Trying to grasp everything that was said in the program I was listening too. The ideas presented were fascinating. There was this deep and blatant question: "Is it True?"

Allow me to explain. What I was hearing sounded good I suppose. But my memories of the incident or time tell me I was also very interested in the time in finding a place to belong. I wanted to know the truth but I also wanted to belong. I listened to the men on the radio preaching. They sounded genuine but the ideas presented were not the average run of the mill. I listened for a long time and decided to make a leap. I started to accept what they were saying as I felt it was the only way to find out if what they were saying was true. Gradually I began praying. More and more I prayed as I listened to these programs. I devoted considerable amounts of time to this. It seems somewhat amazing to me now that I had done this at this age but basically I was searching for the truth and so was praying for that. I had never seen god, and had very really been to church or anything like that. At the time I didn't even recall the incident of tracing the bible when I was 8 either as it didn't occur to me as something significant until much later in life so I was really in the dark on the subject. I prayed for truth and prayed for answers: I wanted to know: Is god real? I asked god to give me a sign, proof, anything that I might believe. I needed a sign because of course I am a logical person. Here I am reading huge books at 14 years old, you can imagine I am naturally a very analytical person and didn't leave much room for faith. Perhaps that was my downfall. At the time I didn't know what faith was. In fact I didn't start seriously thinking about faith until I was 17 and I didn't feel confident in having faith until I was 18. When I was 17 I was actually a determined atheist. That decision had been made when I was 14 though. I was an atheist for 3 years.

So you are probably wondering what happened by now if you got this far. What happened was I ended up praying a lot and I never received an answer to my question: "Is god real?". I decided at the time that I should devote my time to other things and that there was no evidence for god so it simply wasn't an issue for me: I became an atheist.

I was an atheist for 3 years and that peaked at the age of 17. I basically thought people who believed in god were moronic fools and perpetrated science as humanities only legitimate hope. Science, I thought, was key. Needless to say I didn't know very much. For all my reading and intelligence, I was really lacking. If I had only read or was familiar with placebo's it might have been different. If I had known of placebo's, I might have been better able to wrap my head around faith. As far as I was concern, faith was a meaningless emotion that I had no reason to experience. I was a cold and calculating human machine: I was a fool.

Shortly after my 18th birthday, the game changed again. Something traumatic happened to me in my life and I reached out to the unknown. That unknown was god. This time around, though, something different happened: I made a serious leap into faith.

It was truly the first time in my life that I experience faith. I recall the day, the exact moment, vividly. It seemed as though the heavens themselves literally opened up to me. I felt a presence I had never before felt in my life. That presence, I was/am sure, is God.

From then on, I knew and began to know God. I poured over religious texts. At first I simply read the bible. I spent a tremendous amount of time doing so. After I read more and more, it led to interests in other scriptures and texts. I purchased a copy of the "Lost Books of the Bible" from the book store and poured through it. I was introduced to the supernatural world.

It didn't stop there. I soon discovered Buddhism, Taoism, and Kabballah, among others. I am somewhat ashamed of this, that I would read occult things without a proper understanding. In a lot of ways I rushed in to something dangerous and it was a struggle to stay a step ahead of that at such a fragile age. These were really dangerous ideas I was getting involved in, and getting ever more dangerous the deeper I looked. I discovered negative things in addition to the positive things. That things have opposites and there is an evil component in addition to the good component per say. One day the evil got to me and I did something I regret and would rather not share here but in which I managed to lose my faith.

The incident where I lost my faith happened shortly before my 19th birthday (I was born in June). I did not stop believing in god though. By this time it was not about believe anymore. In my mind, having experience and read so much, it was no longer a question of belief: Logically I had now perceived that there was beyond a doubt a god. Although I will not relate the incident to you exactly as it happened I will say that the reason I chose to give up or lose my faith was because I had felt that god abandoned me in my greatest hour of need, up to that time. An event happened to me that was out of my control and I asked god for help and, after feeling like the help wasn't sufficiently given, I literally decided I no longer liked god the same and more or less lost my faith.

I have never since regained the faith I once had, but I have made great strides. I sincerely regret my actions and regret losing my faith more than any other thing in my life that I regret. It has been nearly six years since the incident and I have grown tremendously since in many other areas and am now much more confident and getting stronger in my faith. In my journey to do so I have picked up a few tricks to faith and found a pretty good definition of it in the process.

The definition of faith I have discovered is not big secret. It is philosophically defined in the best selling book of all time, the bible, in Hebrew 11:11:

Faith is the evidence of things hoped for, though not beheld.

I believe this means many things, among the obvious of what it states that faith is invisible and it is based on fact or evidence. It not really a difficult concept though, that something could be invisible yet real. Of course we know that now, gravity for example, is invisible. Two-thousand years ago they didn't so much though. Most people believed what was in front of them and didn't think about such things. Life was hard enough as it was. Faith must originate somewhere though. I hate to speculate too much on the subject. I will leave that for my thoughts and not for my writing, but I can say with relative certainty that faith has a dual nature.

The dual nature of faith, is saying that faith has an opposite. The opposite to faith is doubt. I am not intending to imply that doubt is evil, but I do agree that doubt may be used for an evil purpose(s). To some extent faith maybe effectively be able to conquer doubt, but in areas where this is proving difficult due to a lack of faith here is a trick to conquering doubt:

Doubt Negates Doubt.

In a situation where a person is attempting to increase their faith, it is useful to remove doubt. One way to remove doubt which hinders faith, is to doubt the doubt which hinders faith: As our minds may come to thoughts of doubt in our beliefs, our God, or our spirituality, it is useful to remove those doubts by doubting their power to do so: by doubting their validity to be true.

Good people are rare and hard to come by. I'm sure you've heard the phrase, "nice guy's finish last". It's completely true. Nice guys finish last in everything they do. To be a good person, is to set yourself up to being taken advantage of on a near constant basis. Everyone you know and come into contact with will recognize the good in you, and seek to exploit it. Well... maybe not everyone, but it certainly may seem that way! The good are naive, often times not recognizing what is happening until much later in life. Many people choose to exploit or take advantage of others. These may be considered bad people for clarification purposes.

A good person must spread their good. Against all odds a good person must do so. This is life. This Earth is like hell. It is full of evil. It is full of suffering. Good men in history have worked their whole lives in service to removing evil. Along the way they gave up themselves to the very thing they fight. A good person does not have a choice to be alive. By the time the good find out they are living in an evil world and what they must do to change that, their lives have progressed far already and they have spent a great deal of time on this earth. The good do not know evil. Good is naive.

The opposite of being naive is ignorance. Ignorance is much more common. In removing ignorance we attain perfection. We refine ourselves. This is because knowledge is power. Everyone already knows this, few realize the significance. The quote is catchy and easily remembered, but easily forgotten just the same. To be a capable human being is to have a capable arsenal. That arsenal is knowledge: A book is a bullet and wikipedia is a cannon.

Working to consciously increase one's knowledge is the noblest and wisest of actions. If a person believes he can or can't do a thing, then that belief is true for that person. I have studied and memorized whole text books because I believed I could do so. For me, belief is not a choice. It is live, or it is die. I learn and gain knowledge to live. I've become an expert at too many things to count. In doing so I have refined my mind and soul. I am a stronger, more capable, quicker human being, to name a few. Everyday is better than the last because I choose to make it so. Work is for the good who realize the seriousness of life and of this broken world. We should at least choose to live our own lives for the sake of the future, if not for the sake of the present. And the future is coming.

Million Types of Energy

All matter is composed of energy, and all energy behaves as a wave.

All matter and energy behaves as a wave because all matter and energy spins.

Earth is a spinning Sphere traveling through space time. As it does so, it rotates or spins about circular trajectories. Any point on a spinning sphere produces a spiral or wave like pattern of all the points in space that it come into contact with as it spins as illustrated in the above animation.

As the earth spins, you also spin because you are on Earth. Maybe you wouldn't normally notice this, but you are actually spinning quite fast, about 1,000 miles per hour to be more specific. If that isn't enough, all of the atoms in your body are also moving quite fast, spinning about. Also, as the earth spins and rotates about the sun, the sun also spins and rotates about the Galaxy, dragging the earth with it because of gravity. The Milky Way Galaxy in turn spins about the universe, dragging us and our solar system with it in the process. When you add all of that up, everything is like overlapping spinning waves that are constantly intersecting and bumping into each other: Everything is spinning round, and there is a hierarchy to that. Smaller spinning things like atoms compose larger spinning things like planets.

Most waves are invisible to normal sight. The only waves we see are what's called, The Visible Spectrum, but there are an unknown amount of different types of waves. It may be that the amount of different types of waves is infinite, or a ridiculously large number, as we know of a great many types already, like gravity waves, light waves, electric and magnetic waves, sound waves, etc... but the rate at which we discover new ones doesn't seem to be slowing. According to what has already been written though, it seems like there would be infinite types of waves and, as a hierarchy, they seem to work or behave almost like puzzle pieces. Waves can interlock and "fit" into one another. They can merge or repel, attract or repulse, in so many different ways and combination's. When two waves collide, for example, they produce a completely different pattern for the new structure in which they make up:

The visible spectrum are the waves that most people can see. The visible spectrum actually takes up a very small portion of all known waves though, so you can see we are quite limited in this area. By designing special machines and devices, we have so far been able to make up for this somewhat such as in the case of X-Rays being used in hospitals.

Each color of light represents a different type of wave. These waves travel into the eye where the information is then interpreted by the mind as a specific color. Since we cannot see all waves we need instruments like microscopes and MRI machines to help us. The category of waves classified as X-Rays for example, are invisible to us, but if enough of them strike us, they actually can kill.

Since all matter is energy, and all energy is waves, then technically we could design a spectrum of waves that detailed all known forms of energy waves like space-time or gravity. Gravity waves propagate through space and are just one type of wave. Why not urge the scientific community to design a spectrum that classifies all wave types? Or we could classify atoms according to their waves and designing a whole new periodic table based on them. In short, shouldn't we be trying to harness wave power?

Time Travel and Light

All things move through time, so all things technically time travel.

Time is defined as the relationship between any two points in space (What is Time-Space?). The points can be a single object like a falling basketball, such as can be represented in math as a1, a2, a3, etc... or two different types of objects such as can be represented by a1, b1, a2, b2, etc... In this way time is presented much more concretely rather than abstract. Time is an experience that happens on a constant basis to everything in the universe and may be said to be the result of movement or motion. Since all things are moving, from the astronomical all the way down to the atomic, then all points are constantly in flux between different points in space, resulting in what we perceive as time including yourself: me1, me2, me3; 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, etc...

As we move through space, we also must move through time. We can move very far, or very short in time as a result. Currently, we are all moving very fast: We are on earth, which spins about its axis. The distance is around the earth is about 24,000 miles, and it takes about 1 day for it to spin all the way around so the earth spins about 1,000 miles per hour on average. You wouldn't typically notice unless you had foreknowledge and you spend a while observing the sky and the changing positions of the stars, moon, or clouds.

We are also moving in other ways very quickly through space and time. The Earth Travels around the sun for example. The sun, in turn, also travels around the Milky Way Galaxy. You can probably guess that the Milky Way is moving as well. This is because the universe is said to be expanding. As the universe expands out, matter and energy attempt the most stable patterns: which are curves or circles. But, in actuality, straight lines may in fact be impossible.

If one tries to draw a straight line on a spinning sphere, then what they will end up with is a curved line. The earth is one such spinning sphere: Therefore how can straight lines be made upon it?

A line is the relationship between two locations in space, a1, a2, b1, a1, etc..., what we tend to forget though is that these are averages of quantities: For example, there are an infinite number of smaller and smaller points between any two points, like a1.1, a1.2, a1.3, etc... or Transcendental number's like Pi, 3.14159..., We can likewise divide an hour up to 60 minutes, a minute into 60 seconds, etc... As long as we care to try, we can seemingly divide forever measuring in as many different ways as we care to.

As we increase our speed, we increase in time from our starting point of origin. If the starting point is the earth, and we want to increase the time between our time in relation to the earth, we will need to move away from the earth as quickly as possible. Since movement is essentially time itself or one of the many properties of energy-matter, then as we travel away from earth, we are, in a sense, emitting time as a form of energy or substance. The further and faster we travel, the more of this substance called time we or the thing traveling emits or radiates outward. In a sense, the thing or object is "giving off time".

Time is related to cause and effect. As a substance moves through a medium, such as a spaceship leaving earth, it is producing causes or waves of energy that radiate outwards from it. The waves that are produced are likened to information in that waves, or energy, becomes organized. The scientific term for this is polarizability.

As light is composed of waves of energy, called quanta, light can be considered to be organized information. When a light wave strikes an object, the orientation of it's waves change to reflect the object it strikes. In this way light is affected by the object which is a cause and effect. In a sense, the object leaves an imprint or memory of itself by rearranging the light waves. In turn, light waves then may enter a human eye where this information is interpreted as it travels through the nerve pathways and brain (Sensory Perception).

Because light is the ultimate speed limit, and it is considered as information by the way it records information when interacting with other matter-energy, light is considered the most accurate measure of time. As light transfers information throughout a medium, such as space-time or Earth's atmosphere, it is also transferring itself in the form of energy. In this way light redistributes energy throughout the entirety of the medium(s) in which it resides. For example, the light of the sun spreads out equally over distance in all directions. The same with a light bulb, the light attempts to spread out equally over a more or less circular area.

Because light carries with it information about a thing, including information about it's time, then by traveling very fast and very far away from earth, turning around, and looking through a telescope, we can actually see, because of the information contained in light itself, into the past.

If we can use light to see into the past, by increasing our speed and distance away from the earth, then we can rediscover all earth's history. We can view and even record actual events that happened in the past if we want to. In order to do this we need to be able to travel fast and far enough away from the earth to reach the light that carries the information that we desire.

Time Space is Flowing Currents of Energy

Any and all motion qualifies as time. Motion or speed/distance (speed divided by distance) is a measure of time itself, if a thing moves, it has time, and all things move: The earth spins as it rotates about the sun, the sun rotates about the galaxy, the galaxy the universe, etc... Everything is moving very fast and has time depending on how fast it is moving in relation to everything else. Time is energy, and energy is everywhere. When we discern energy, one of the things we see/notice is time. Time is a property of energy and energy composes the entirety of the universe. Energy flows so time is also said to flow.

If we stir energy around, we stir time around. As the earth rotates it does this, as it is said to be "dragging" space-time with it like how the moon is attracted and rotates about us. Time is a substance like a glass of water is a substance. Unlike the substance of water though, it is invisible to us. If we let a single drop of water fall into the glass, then the whole system is affected, the same as if we stir it. This is due to waves propagating throughout the medium. In this way a single drop effects all other drops. It is because everything is connected in a sense. There appears to be empty space between things, but it is a kind of illusion: The space may be only sparsely populated, or it can be populated with energy that is invisible to normal means of detection or not immediately obvious like space.

Space may be devoid of matter but not of energy. Energy is said to exist everywhere within space. I would propose that Space is energy as all things knowable are energy, we just currently do not know very much about space or the energy of space only that it has or contains energy.

Energy essentially is what constitutes all matter. It is no longer thought that the atom is the building block of nature, as atoms may be reduced to non-physical energy. This is known as wave-particle duality. At regular earth level of reality, the particle appears, but is a kind of illusion of some forms of dense energy. We say illusion because the closer one looks with a microscope, the less a thing appears to be solid particles and the more it appears as waves of energy.

Essentially the universe exists as a hierarchy or spectrum. Particles or physical matter exist higher in terms of hierarchy as they are complex combination's of energy. Pure energy on the other hand seems to most readily exist as a wave. The wave is more basic and simpler than the particle as the particle essentially is composed of what is perceived as very dense waves.In this way physical matter is the illusion of compressed non-physical energy: That Nothing is Truly Solid...

Wave Dynamics

We know that all matter is reducible and composed of energy like Quanta being the tiny energy of light. However all energy seems to behave most readily as a wave.

I was therefore wondering about the dynamics of a wave, and how one might originate. It seems that in order to produce a wave, you would need a spinning object in the form of a sphere like the earth. As the earth spins, it drags things with it, like when you stir a glass a water with a spoon in a circle, the spoon tends to drag the water with it, producing a spiral pattern.

I think the spiral is natures attempt at a straight line on a curved spinning surface. It seems that all things spin. We are spinning right now as we speak since we are on earth. The earth spins really fast, about 25,000 miles and we hardly notice unless we pay close attention to the sky. In addition to spinning around, the earth is also rotating about the sun. The sun in turn is rotating about the galaxy and the galaxy is conceivably rotating about the universe. When you add all that up, we are moving very fast indeed and always within circular trajectories.

The action of spin produces vortexes and whirlpools: Spirals. It seems that the more perfect and/or faster the spinning object, the more perfect would be this spiral having a tendency to become more like a "perfect circle" which radiates outward aligned to the same direction. As a sphere like the earth spins, it has the attractive force called gravity drawing things near to it. The center of the earth is where the strongest attraction or gravity is and this is said to be due to the extreme density there. As an incoming object such as an asteroid comes near the earth, it is attracted towards the center so attempts to travel in a straight line. However, the earth is spinning, so every attempt the asteroid makes to travel in a straight line is thwarted.

As the sphere spins, it drags the invisible energy of space-time with it, producing anomalous curves and spirals.

Essentially, however contradictory or illogical this may seem, there are not necessarily any such things as straight lines as all things have curvature due to the spinning of the Universe, Galaxy, Stars, Black Holes, Planets, Atoms, Etc... All things spin or are located within mediums which spin and by determining spin in relation to curves we may yet be able to approximate speed among other variables.

The collective wave pattern or frequency of the sum total of all waves in any given location seems to be the determining factor in all things as all energy is a wave and all matter is just energy after all.

No wonder DNA is a double Helix and all that other good stuff [Duality].

Electromagnetic Gravity

Physics is like the study of existence itself. It's purpose is to determine questions of why. For example, Why does the apple fall? Personally, I find it rather amazing that we are able to ask such questions in the first place. No other thing in existence that we know of is capable of asking the question, "why?". It is a product of our consciousness to ask questions: A direct result of being aware. Is it any wonder the most popular questions of our species has centered around science and divinity? Physics may only be one kind or type of science, but since it concerns reality itself ("Why?")it automatically is a core component of all the other sciences: Physics is super science.

Isaac Newton is given credit as the first true physicist. He described fall as an attraction between objects, such as the earth and the apple, which he called gravity.

For the two thousand years prior to Newton however, the dominating idea or reason given for why objects fall was that they longed to be reunited with the earth. The person who proposed this was none other than the famous Greek philosopher, Aristotle.

Both Aristotle and Newton saw fall as an attractive force. Newton however, gave us a much more logical and organized explanation for the fall than his predecessor. Newton was able to describe fall, or gravity, using mathematics.

Newton, so far as we know, was the first human to attempt to logically explain aspects of reality or existence with science. Hitherto to Newton, the use of science in determining reality was a virtual unknown. That is, there was no laboratory or structure for determining facts such as the process of elimination or deductive reasoning. You gotta think, people were pretty ignorant back then. Not exactly one of the high periods of our civilization or species, though I'm sure our descendants will probably feel the same about us in another thousand years so. But back to the point, mathematics is just one type or flavor of science. Albeit many consider it to be the capstone of all reasoning and logic it is not the only and history has proven even it is subject to error.

In it's purest description, mathematics, or more simply numbers, is an abstract representation of some value. Some values are more complex than others and because of this need more math (given as numbers;letters;value,etc...) to explain them. The odd thing about it is that throughout history things we thought as a species or civilization were true about the nature of reality turned out to be incomplete at best [e.g.Pi]. After Aristotle, Newton and his physics reigned uncontested for over two-hundred years until Einstein.

"If Newton is the father of physics, Einstein is the son."

Though there have certainly been a great number of many great physicist prior to Einstein, none came as close as him to toppling Newton. Einsteins theories and ideas have led us into a kind of revolution in thought as a species. More so than the son though, Einstein led us into a new kind of physics, thus he is more often called, "The Father of Modern Physics,". Some even go so far as to say, "Greatest Physicist Ever." He had many scientific discoveries but he is best known for his theories of relativity concerning space time and light which he won the Nobel prize for. In case that you forgot, special relativity mainly states that the speed of light is the same no matter how fast you go. Basically, you can never catch or catch up to light. (Which is really strange when you think about it. How is it that light is able to evade everything in the universe except a black hole?) General Relativity on the other hand describes Newton's fall, gravity, as a geometric property of space and time, or space-time.

Gravity is seemingly a property of matter, but it's also the combination of the four dimensions. Basically, we all know that gravity is stronger depending on how big an object, such as a planet is. Jupiter's gravity is way stronger than the Earth's, and the moon's is about a fourth or twenty-five percent weaker. What I find interesting most interesting about general relativity is that it states that curvature of space-time is a direct result of matter and energy moving through it (the 4 dimensions of length, width, height, and time).

Space and Time; Space-Time

Space-time produces effects that mimic things like bubbles and rubber sheets. It's invisible to all known forms of direct detection so no one can really say for sure what it is but it can be thought of as the thing that surrounds and encloses the universe and provides a kind of structure throughout, like a membrane or bubble. Not much else is really known about space-time and it is currently one of the major problems in physics so I'm gonna take the opportunity to say what I think it is.

In it's most classical description, space-time is a reference for determining a point by determining it's length, width, depth, and time where time is roughly equivalent to speed since speed, specifically the speed of light 'c', is the ultimate value or measure of time. However, since I explained earlier that things we think are true tend not to be in the long run, so too is the physical constant for light (c).

My solution? As a person of science I have decided that there are certain principles in science that all other things manifest from. This is essentially the philosophy [Philosophy] or stance of physics on the whole as well. Consider elementary particles for example, such as the electron. But the thing is, I consider everything but the fundamental's to be phenomena. To me phenomena is something not easily explained. So I attribute most behavior of matter other than elementary particles to be phenomenal or not quite definable. Everything else is just emanations or results of elementary particles (Sub-atomic physics?) combining anyways so I feel this is pretty accurate. What's more, all the elementary particles have some thing in common. I have thus chosen that the thing(s) they share in common form the foundation of my understanding of physics, and thereby reality. Most simply, this foundation is defined as charge in physics and takes the form of either positive (+) or negative (-). More specifically, charge has many behaviors that manifest in all facets of existence. In fact, all matter is essentially a phenomena attributable to charge under this conclusion as all matter has charge.

What is Charge?

I actually don't know what charge is aside from calling it either positive (+) and negative (-), which are really just terms that don't mean anything except in relation to each other when you think about it. I unfortunately don't know of anyone that truly does know what charge is either... We do know a lot about effects and behaviors of charge, such as spin and flow, but exactly what it is or even why it exists in the first place is a complete mystery. Although, you could say charge is god or the energy known as god since it permeates everything [All Pervading Energy = Universal Duality], as some do believe, this is considered by most to be a highly radical or fringe idea.

Charge is a fascination of science and divinity since the dawn of thought. Need I also say thought is also highly influenced by charge?

After all is said and done though charge is still a mystery but at least I've established some things about reality that I hope should allow you the reader decide what you think it is. Additionally I believe the fundamentals of physics can and will be solved/discovered by our species (Soon I think) but that the extra-fundamental's or all things not attributed to be elementary ("The Phenomenons") will continue to provide a source of research, growth, and mystery for the conscious mind for eternity to come so long as we continue to ask our favorite question: "Why?"

Pi: The Whole is Greater than the sum of it's Parts

Pi is an obsession for some... did you ever wonder why?
In the very popular movie, "Contact," based on the popular book by Carl Sagan, contact is made with alien's from another world. One thing leads to another and the aliens send a message about Pi. The main character and scientist from the movie, Ellie, does as the message say's and ends up decoding Pi.

Pi has been the obsession of many people, scientists, mathematicians, and nerds in general since Geometry was first discovered.

If you are wondering why by this point it's because Pi is a very strange number. If you didn't already know or forgot, Pi is defined as the circumference of the circle and is rounded off to 3.14159 or just 3.14 for most things. It's really strange in quite a few ways but as far as the decimal is concerned Pi is infinite.

Pi, the circumference of a circle, repeats forever into it's decimal (3.14159 * infinity) as an irrational number. It is, so far as we can tell as a civilization, without logic and therefore unable to be understood or truly computed or measured. Isn't that strange?

So far, Pi has been calculated to more than a trillion decimal places with the use of computers but just about forty decimal is accurate enough to describe distances on subatomic levels, like in the nucleus of an atom, using mathematics.

Pi will work for any circle. The same number is always there out of millions, perhaps billions, of circles people and computers have measured.

Pi is also wholly irrational. This is largely the reason why people have become so obsessed with it. Pi has no pattern to it. It's decimal repeat's to infinite so far as anyone or any computer can tell and/as there is no pattern to it. If there was a pattern, or if we discovered a pattern, pi would no longer be irrational and we, as a civilization, could probably solve all physics and math problems to date. That is, the universe would basically be revealed to us. This could also be considered a technological singularity, due to the results it would produce. Unfortunately, as mentioned, no one has figured out Pi in the course of human history and civilization.

Newton, Einstein, and computers are just three great intellects that have been unable to so far solve pi.

Most people who dedicate all or part of their lives to science do so because their core belief's center around the universe being logical, and therefore being able to be understood by humans. Science is essentially a system or method for determining facts. The system of science is and is based on logic (Postulates, theories, hypothesis, deduction, etc...) so it's somewhat embarrassing to have an irrational number such as pi.

The universe is supposed to be rational. If it wasn't how could we ever figure anything out? According to the rules of science, logic can be applied anywhere to figure out or solve a problem. But this hasn't worked with Pi. People have spent their whole lives trying to solve it in vain.

Contradiction or Duality?

Can you imagine wasting a lifetime trying to solve this?:

A line is equivalent to a minimum of two points.

If you take a string (represented as a line) and fold into a circle then compare the distance around the circle (Circumference) with the original length of the line, then the circle's circumference will be approx. 3.14 (Pi π) times larger than it's diameter.

Unlike squares, triangles, and all angels in general, circles, or any curves for that matter, appear to be irrational in comparison.

If we take any measurable distance within the circle and try to divide it evenly into it's circumference, we will not get a whole number or the number we would expect to get with logic.

Common sense or logic tells us, when viewing the circle, that it can be divided equally into parts. However this is just simply not the case. The parts that we divide a circle into, no matter in how many different ways or combination's, never add up to equal the circumference of the circle.

All Pervading Energy Is Universal Duality

Energy is the same as information as you can't have information without energy. Energy is also heat, or at least one form of energy. Electrical energy is another. There are really many different types of energy that we classify but generally speaking, energy is a property of all matter in the universe. Essentially too, all matter is actually made of energy. The photon for example, is the smallest quantity of energy that can exist in the universe. The photon is extremely small to say the least but in importance it is second to none.

Energy is everywhere and everything. It is all around us, including within us. Energy is like the stuff of stuff; Photons as a result are constantly zipping around everywhere unbeknown to most people. This is because light is actually made up of photons [Vision and Sight: The Photoreceptive eye]. The photons are given off by the sun as light rays that travel millions of miles across space and dust until finally reaching our eyes. Did I also mention that the light is produced by millions of nuclear reactions (fusion) across the surface of the sun?

Energy and matter [duality] are said to be equivalent. I think it is more true to say they are like brothers or sisters; Two sides of the same coin. Both are very similar, with few slight differences. For one, matter tends to be positive as it generally composes the elements whose core components (Nucleus) is positive. Energy on the other hand, most commonly comes in the form of the negatives (-) like electricity, photons, (light) or even simple heat. Of the three, light is the most mysterious and studied. The physicist Albert Einstein for example spent the remainder of his life trying to figure how how light or electromagnetism (+ & -) could be used to solve and explain all problems in physics. That still hasn't been achieved unfortunately but Plant's use it (light) to maintain their life cycle through photosynthesis. And, if you don't get enough light, you can even get a vitamin D deficiency.

So what is energy?

Energy is flow.

And,

There are two types of flow. Each type is opposite to the other type but everyone disagrees on what to call it. In physics and science in general it's usually called either positive and negative or magnetic and electric [Energy of attraction - positive (+) and negative (-)] . In other disciplines it's different though like Yin and Yang being the qualities of Chi. Or you could be much simpler about it: Clockwise counter-clockwise (Spin); up down; right left.

A lot of people call this duality, myself included. Though I'm not really sure what it means, I'm certain it's somehow key to understanding life and consciousness.. and I guess others would be as well considering it's a key principle in all fields of knowledge I am aware of. It's amazing how many two's there are. Two of everything really, right down to the sub-atomic and elemtary particles.

The Full becomes Empty and the Empty Becomes Full:

Flow is the movement or transfer of substance, be it matter or energy or some other thing like time, from one location to another. The substance does this naturally, we are told, to reach equillibrium. I don't know if I always like using such a simple term for such a complex process, but it is a scientific law so form your own conclusions. Otherwise let's just say flow can occur for many many reasons most if not all of which may be ascribed to the end result of balance.

Interestingly enough flow travels in waves. No one really knows for certain why this occurrs but it could be due to the structure of existance itself, otherwise known as space-time. It is thought that since space-time is curved, and flow travels and rests upon space-time (that is, within the deminsions of Length, Width, Height, and Time), the flow should naturally take on a pattern other than a straight line. However that doesn't exactly explain why there are waves. This means things are obviously much more complex than we currently know or understand, especially if you consider the scope of flow. Flow, no matter what shape, form or texture -in all forms- behaves as a wave, be it particle, gas, light, or consciousness itself [e.g. Pi mystery].

The Difference in Physical and Non-Physical

Many people get tricked into thinking that things are physical because we can measure them It seems. Brain waves for example. We may measure the brain in terms of ECG's or electrocardiographs and MRI's. However what we are measuring or trying to perceive within the mind or brain is the energies of the mind or brain. The MRI or magnetic resonance imagine works because it is designed to read or pick up on energy. But what is energy? Do you believe it to be physical?

There are things around us which we can measure but cannot physically touch. Things which appear to have form but not substance. Space-time is a good example of this. But just because a thing can be measured doesn't necessarily mean it's physical.

Many people mistake physical for meaning 'real'. But, what is real? If a thing isn't known, a thing isn't known. CERN is discovering and producing previously unknown scientific results right now. Would you also say that because a thing doesn't yet exist or rather, knowledge of a thing such as proton particle collisions, then by virtue of not knowing or being able to observe directly it doesn't exist?

To me, physical is substance. This usually equates to touch. However I cannot touch space-time, yet we still measure it. Space-time is decidedly non-physical, yet it still exists and is apparently a kind of medium, like air or water would be on earth, in which the entire universe resides in.

Space-time, I would say, is energy, where pure energy, is non-physical.

Furthermore, it seems true to me that what you call physical is just a phenomena or property of pure energy since that is what all matter in the universe is reducible to.

In a black hole for example:

The black hole is said to be the twisting of the non-physical substance, Space-time.

This is said to cause extreme gravitational distortions where 'extreme' is an understatement.

The "Gravity" of space-time is sufficiently strong to attract all known matter and energy in the universe. Nothing can resist it's power so far as we know.

However energy, in the form of ultra high intensity Gamma waves, are emitted from the black hole.

In the picture above, the sphere's composed together are said to represent matter while the waves emanating from them in the form of gamma ray is said to be non-physical pure energy.

The pattern of this energy, is represented by the wavy line. The line itself doesn't actually exist in any form, it's just what we would see if we could see it in a sense. Like the pattern the energy seems to follow or oscillate on. String theory for example, says that all matter is an oscillating string, which I think is pretty much the same as saying it's a wave but a wave is just oscillating energy that we detect by it's effect on physical matter that we "see" intimately.

Space-time represents itself as waves and folds in mediums. For example, the ocean is a medium or collection of salty water and has strong wave properties. Likewise, space is a medium of sorts that also has the wave property. A black hole for example, is the twisting of space in on itself and so has a wave or spiral pattern. Matter entering the black hole follows the course of this pattern, traveling down deeper into the black hole as it spirals around and around.

When a scientist looks at a wave and determines that it is non physical energy, he is just as baffled as anyone who would do the same. There is no concise theory to explain the pattern observed on every level of reality called the wave or spiral as it is a complete mystery we have yet to solve.

All we know is that the wave is like vibrations or oscillations and that it is a property of all matter-energy known in the universe including human beings and human thought.

Thought or consciousness itself can be likewise considered a pure kind of energy whose various wave patterns or oscillations are attributed to different thoughts or ideas.

Mostly though, the point is that physics is really really strange that many times don't make a whole hell of a lot of sense. All the good theories used to explain is riddled with paradox's and contradictions so essentially, we can't really say we know much about anything. Physics is good, but it hasn't yet been able to solve or deal with these problems so we must also rely on other ideas and fields of study.

Oddly enough, the fields of study we typically rely on are perceived complements or even opposites of physics, like religion and philosophy.

Eventually, as a result, I expect that science and divinity will become unified in a sense... a kind of divine science if you will. Once minds are open/been made aware that is. I believe we are very close to achieving this as it is, we just need to "connect the dots".

Perceiving Reality

What is reality? Have you given the question serious thought? When we try to pin down reality, and seriously discern it's nature, we generally run into paradoxes and contradictions:

"Are dreams considered reality or would you say reality is only physical? If it's only physical then would you consider there is no reality to consciousness or the ability to think since thought is not physical...?"

The only definition I was able to decide on that will fit all other definitions of reality is that reality is perception.

Reality is what you Perceive beyond the immediate you called the 'self' or 'me'.

At our essence or core the only thing we can utter with any certainty of truth is the famous maxim,

"I think therefore I am"

(as first spoken by Rene Descartes)

A maxim is taken as an undeniable logic or truth about something. Most people wouldn't debate the quote as being true because it's considered self evident or self obvious.

Since all we are truly is our minds or our thoughts, then what we perceive is obviously our reality. The question then is:

Is what you perceive to be reality in conflict with other perceptions of reality?

The Importance of Sacred Geometry

When I first discovered Sacred Geometry, I didn't think much of it. It's easy to overlook it's significance, and most do. Sacred Geometry is not easily explained however there is one key feature that is present in all geometries that are said to be sacred: the key is called the ratio.
There are various ratio's and all of them are what you would call 'mysterious'. Pi would be my first example and the one you are probably most familiar with. If you can recall high school geometry for a moment, Pi is the circumference around a circle.

However Pi is very strange. As you might know, people sometimes become... obsessed with pi you could say. This is because, in spite of logic, Pi is wholly irrational. This really pisses smart people off sometimes who desire to know everything. To date, Pi is one of those things in existence which no one has been able to really explain.

Pi is just one ratio out of many but all the ratio's in sacred geometry, including pi, are direct explanations of the physical world. Basically, they represent patterns in nature. The circle for example, or Pi, is universal: All circles found in nature are similar and have the same ratio's.

The circle is generally overlooked in importance which is a shame. The few that do realize it's importance often become obsessed with it as well which is ironic however anyone can understand Pi or the circle because circles are everywhere.

Circles are a primary structure of reality. The sun, earth, and moon are circles for example. Machines often have circular parts as well. If you could understand the nature of a circle then you might better be able to understand how the wheel of a car turns.

A circle is essentially a line which have curved in on itself to become a loop. Other curved lines found in nature are generally referred to as logarithmic spirals.

Logarithmic spirals were first proposed by Rene Descartes. Rene Descartes was the guy who first said, "I think therefore I am." Personally I feel he is one of the most influential people in history and ranks higher than Da Vinci but you probably have your own opinions, if any but Descartes is definitely a recurring theme in my topics.

This very pattern is found everywhere in nature, only typically we don't notice it. The pattern is represented by ratios. We can explain using geometry:

Thus we call it, Sacred Geometry: The Geometry of Life. Why life behaves this way or why things like entire galaxies or single conch shells find it most useful or natural to form themselves in this spiral pattern however, Is a complete mystery.

What I think is Enlightenment

I think Enlightenment is a return to the original self. This is ambiguous I know, but it's ambiguity is part of it's definition and is otherwise known as duality. That probably doesn't make a lot of sense to come right off the bat and say that but that's the only way I know how to explain it (Yikes!) in just a couple sentences. Duality, is like dual nature. Eastern people usually call this yin and yang. In physics, we say either positive and negative or electric and magnetic. Basically though, if you look hard enough at what you consider to be the world around you; as in, reality; then you will notice there is damn near two of everything. Additionally, the two complement each other. Like male and female for example.

The two comprise the world as you know it. All nature is reducible to the two. Discovering what the two is and mastering them within your own soul, is, I think, enlightenment.

So what is a soul? A soul, I think, is what you are at your very most inner essence. Essentially, the core of your being. This is given most easily, as consciousness, though I'm not saying that's all it is. The state of being aware then is likened to knowing or experiencing your own soul. This is the basis for meditation. When we practice awareness, we begin to become ever more conscious or aware. If we meditate, the experience can be heightened however, to meditate, which is the practice of being aware, can be achieved at any time with relative results as it is not so difficult to practice being aware of the bigger picture.

Over time this builds character. We may begin to refine the self as we become ever more aware of not only the world around but also the world within. We may start to recognize certain thoughts that, after conscious consideration, may want to debate their validity. Over time, as conscious growth of the self is achieved more and more, we become closer and closer to what is known as enlightenment.

Enlightenment I think is like the perfect self or the perfect you. We work towards it because we want to fulfill our potential. By getting clarity through conscious awareness and development, we work towards fulfilling our potential in becoming the best we can be as conscious beings.

Pankration: The original MMA

I have been giving a lot of thought lately to going back to school and as I was looking into a local college I decided to see what what athletics programs they had.

I ended up doing more reading that I needed but found out something interesting in the process. Apparently the original mix martial art is called Pankration and it was invented by the Ancient Greeks.

Contests were regularly held at the Olympic games in particular. Pankration was considered an all encompassing fighting style that combined both boxing and wrestling also with emphasis on lower body strikes and others.

Pankration, like many Greek stories and ideas, also comes with it's own mythology. In Greek mythology was said that the heroes Heracles and Theseus invented the martial art.

For anyone who's ever seen the movie 300, you can get a pretty fair idea of how ruthless and violent the Greeks could be. There was one story I found in particular on wikipedia about the Olympics:

"In an odd turn of events, a pankration fighter named Arrhichion (Ἀρριχίων) of Phigalia won the pankration competition at the Olympic Games despite being dead. His opponent had locked him in a chokehold and Arrhichion, desperate to loosen it, broke his opponent's toe (some records say his ankle). The opponent nearly passed out from pain and submitted. As the referee raised Arrhichion's hand, it was discovered that he had died from the choke-hold. His body was crowned with the olive wreath and taken back to Phigaleia as a hero."

I would personally love to know how this fighter called Arrhichion was able to break his opponents foot while being choked out. That's sounds like the kind of shit that would put Kimbo Slice to shame. If the story is true, then I would also question did this guy really refuse to surrender? Like he wanted to win so bad that he refused to give up and instead gave his last energy not to signaling he forfeits but instead to break his opponent's foot, causing him to tap out.

What could make a man do that? These people must have placed a lot of value in what we might consider extremists viewpoints. My only question is, where can I find someone to teach me pankration and how to never give up and break foots!

What I Think is the Trick or Secret to Life

In hindsight of all my experiences, memories, etc.. I think the trick to life is balance.

Maybe this surprises you. Perhaps you weren't expecting someone to say the secret of life is balance.

I think I have some pretty good reasons for thinking this though. Allow me to explain:

Doing too much of any one thing is considered harmful or damaging. Virtues taken to the extreme, for example, result in vice. For example, courage can become recklessness.

The thing is, in order to find out when courage becomes recklessness, we actually have to do it ourselves.

That is, we must experience recklessness.

Once we have reched the point of recklessness, we learn and discover things about ourselves and our potential. Like what our limits are. By practicing virtue, we are balancing.

Likewise it's important to make mistakes.

No one likes to make mistakes though. Mistakes suck, especially when other people know about them. I find it's best to learn as much from mistakes as possible, that way you won't need to make them very often.

The fact is no one likes or wants to make mistakes, but everyone is, in hindsight, grateful for at least some of their past mistakes.

The goal is to be grateful for all mistakes. It's not easy, but it can be done, and you will at least notice improvement or betterment over time.

That's all it takes really. Time... and perhaps a bit of effort. If you have patience and other virtues that you practice, and you are in a position of balance, then you are on your way to mastering this ridiculous game called life.

Life is a journey through balance. You are a yin yang. A yin yang has many properties in duality: light dark; electric magnetic; north south - east west ; positive negative ; etc...

You are all of these things, and many more. Every idea fits somewhere in the category. You even have a left and a right side, a left brain and a right brain. You are then the scientist, forever experimenting with balance. You balance your life, your career, your checkbook, your personality. You balance all things don't you? So you must also discover new things to balance and new ways of balancing.

Balance yourself to happiness.

Or Balance yourself to enlightenment...

Balance your new job. Balance yourself into a higher salary. It can be anything you want, any thing you choose, so long as you know, the trick is balance :-)

Sensory Perception: Sixth Senses

I was thinking about the senses and what a sense is. A sense, I thought, is just a way to get information. We use eyes to get information about the world around for example.

It is said that there are 5 senses. If a sense is just a way to get information though, shouldn’t there be more?

Why not say imagination is a sense? Could imagination be a sixth sense?

Is reasoning a sense?

Saying that there are 5 senses is really quite stupid. There are obviously way more than 5 senses or ways for an intelligent person to gain information about reality.

I discovered something else too. Nikola Tesla apparently had some 6th senses. Here’s an excerpt from wikipedia:

“Tesla engaged in reading many works, memorizing complete books, supposedly having a photographic memory.[21] Tesla related in his autobiography that he experienced detailed moments of inspiration. During his early life, Tesla was stricken with illness time and time again. He suffered a peculiar affliction in which blinding flashes of light would appear before his eyes, often accompanied by hallucinations. Much of the time the visions were linked to a word or idea he might have come across; just by hearing the name of an item, he would involuntarily envision it in realistic detail. He typically did not make drawings by hand, instead just conceiving all ideas with his mind. All these different ways to gain information about things. Tesla was just one man. Who knows what others or even you or me are capable of doing?

I’m sure Tesla had to develop his qualities at least a little.

Maybe we all have 6th senses we can develop?

Maybe some of us have expert memories; can hear sound well; can visualize pictures; who knows what people can do!

It could be that we don’t even know what we can do. Who truly knows themselves after all?

The journey of life I think, is at least partly agreeable, that we are journeying to find out who we are.

You go to school when you are young and find out all sorts of things about yourself: What subjects your good at, what “Crowd” you fit in with, etc…

There’s really no right way to do things, you can go any number of routes.

Take any road. They’re all good roads that lead to interesting places.

4.Binary - The language of computers composes just two elements. Arbitrarily, we designate them as 1 or 0, but they can be any two points of reference, such as 'A' and 'B'

5.Parity - All numbers are said to be either even or odd, this is called parity. Irrational numbers like Pi are said to be odd, while others which are perfectly proportional and knowable are said to be even. Most of the problems in mathematics have to do with odd integers. Likewise directions also come in pairs. We may have up or down, left or right, in or out, etc...

6.Circle - a folded line (two points). To go up in terms of a circle is the same as going down and vice versa.The circle is Pi, perhaps the most important and fundamental constant or ratio in all of science and engineering. Pi is also a mystery. It's decimal notation (3.14159...) repeats to infinity with no apparent pattern. It is considered wholly irrational and all attempts to solve or decipher it have been met in failure.

7.Fibonacci sequence - Similar to the golden mean, the Fibonacci sequence is also related to the circle or Pi. At best, the sequence seems to be a kind of mathematical constant that explains how the radius or size of a circle increases as you go out, however, to most people it makes no sense and, additionally, has yet to be fully solved, it being another irrational number like Pi. The Fibonacci sequence represents itself as the following numbers: 0, , 1 , 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144.... In this way, every number in the sequence is the sum of the two numbers before it.

8.Golden Ratio - The golden ratio is the proportion between the numbers in the Fibonacci Sequence. As best we can estimate, the proportion or ratio between any two numbers in a Fibonacci sequence is about equal 1.6180339887. Since both are reflected on or have to do with the circle (Pi) then that makes them very useful and important numbers or ratio's. To give an example, consider the sunflower at right. The sunflower can be mathematically described using Pi, the Golden ratio, and the Fibonacci Sequence. None of this is very difficult for anyone to compute or figure out, so there is a kind of inerrant beauty and simplicity in the proportions in addition to their unknown or chaotic proportion.

Physiology

9.Left Brain, Right Brain - There are two cerebral hemispheres which are distinctly different from each other with different capabilities. Each hemisphere rules or controls either the left or right side of the body, such as a person being left or right handed and is capable of doing different things. Generally, one side is said to be more logical while the other is more abstract, such as a person being either good at mathematics or language, but generally not both. This further equates to division in the body, being that you have 2 eyes, 2 armbs, 2 thumbs, etc... The path of the nervous system and all it's functions is divided and runs paralell down opposite sides of the body, effectively linking each hemisphere with control over either the left or right side of the body in turn.

10.DNA - Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is composed of two spirals forming what's called a double helix. The coded information that composes it's structure and parts is the instructions for life. Without those instructions in every cell in your body, you would not be able to function. DNA is like a road map for living that makes life possible in the first place, it being responsible for the growth and maintenance of the cells that make up life on Earth. It is extremely complex and was only discovered about 50 years ago and only began to be decoded within the last decade. Due to the large amount of information contained within this very tiny structure within your body, it ended up taking a long time to decode, even with using computers.

Physics:

11.Electromagnetism - In electromagnetism, we still have the two basic principles. Physics may seem complex to many, but a lot of the reason for people think that, I think, is that most of the time physics is poorly explained in clear, rational terms, like what I have attempted in this list of phenomena. Everything on this list is complex and mysterious. It is also very practical knowledge in that it is fundamental and can be presented in simple terms.

Like Binary or Yin Yang, the oposites or polars of electromagnetism are only arbitrarily designated. In physics we may call them positive (+) and negative (-) but the terms are not mutually exclusive and we could easily substitute any two duality variables, such as ab or 01, and the equations would still work. That's basically because the equations are not describing something foreign from everything so far but rather they lead to a deeper understanding of life or the universe in general.

Physics is so esteemed then not necessarily because it's any more right or correct than any other theory, idea, religion, etc... of duality, but instead because it has produced such a great quantity of information about duality.

For example, In Electromagnetic research we have discovered:

-The electric field is the dual of the magnetic field.
-The electric displacement field is the dual of the magnetizing field.
-Faraday's law is the dual of Ampere's law.
-Gauss's law for electric field is the dual of Gauss's law for magnetism.
-The electric potential is the dual of the magnetic potential.
-Permittivity is the dual of permeability.
-Piezoelectricity is the dual of magnetostriction.
-Ferroelectricity is the dual of ferromagnetism.
-An electrostatic motor is the dual of a magnetic motor;
-Electrets are the dual of permanent magnets;
-The Faraday effect is the dual of the Kerr effect.

This is just a brief list of some of the information available through and by physics. In this way science is really just an effective means of gathering and recording information. For this reason, many believe that science should never be used as an ideology. They say it is strictly a tool to use for the mind, and shouldn't be associated with the heart as is instead more the job of a philosophy or religion.

12.Wave Particle - Is it a wave or a particle?

"Orthodox interpretations of quantum mechanics explain this ostensible paradox as a fundamental property of the Universe, while alternative interpretations explain the duality as an emergent, second-order consequence of various limitations of the observer.[1]"

Wave particle duality is the notion or fact that all matter and energy within the knowable universe appears to behave both as a wave an a particle. According to the Heisenberg principle for though, an object such as an atom cannot be viewed simultaneously as both a wave and a particle; When we look through a telescope, we only see one or the other. It's as if the atom can take on two forms or natures, but only one at a time. Heisenberg was the first person to experimentally confirm this, hence why we name it after him, "The Heisnberg Principle."

If a tree falls in a forest, and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

As a result of the Heisenberg principle, much speculation has come about. Perhaps the most famous reply to the Heisenberg principle, is the philosophical thought experiment called Schrodinger's cat. The main, but not the only, idea or concept Shrodinger's cat implies that since the wave and the particle cannot be viewed simultaneosly, as according to the physics of Heisenberg, then the very act of observation or consciousness (Being aware) is what commands the Electromagnetic wave to either become a wave or a particle. The conclusion was arrived at through logic, and most people, scientists included, accept it as a fact that we don't yet fully understand. However this hasn't stopped people making it known, hence it being somewhat famous. Presently, the idea that consciousness or conscious observation affect reality as according to Heisnberg is a foundation of philosophy and was/is a core idea of many works, fads, and projects including the "Secret", Buddhism or New age and religion in general, and the movie, book, and series, "What the bleep do we know?!" just to name a few.

13.Chaos Theory - Chaos theory is like the study of the whole in relation to it's parts; the study of systems. Chaos theory attempts to look at the relationships between objects to determine what effects they might have or cause within the system. For example, perhaps you've heard of it's other name, The Butterfly Effect:

"If a butterfly flaps it's wings in China, can it cause a tornado in the U.S?"

The Lorenz attractor is the relationship(s) between two particles. When we attempt to study this in science, computer models like the one at right, present us with something that resembles the wings of a butterfly.

The idea is that any disturbance within a system, no matter how small, has the potential to affect the system on a whole, due to wave nature, via it potentially being the cause or originator in a chain reaction. If you remember back to the circle and Fibonacci sequence, the value of any number in the sequence is the value of the two numbers before it. This is a kind of multiplication that looks a lot like, and is thought to be given the immense evidence, a description of wave's or wave nature.

If it wasn't already complex enough, our defining of chaos theory has now led us to a potential data barrier. Essentially, this just means that Chaos is another word for unknown variable. Because it's unknown, it's also unpredictable, hence a butterfly could potentially cause a tornado if the conditions were just right. In the study of systems on the whole, chaos or the unknown variables represent themselves into a kind of "weird-ed" out or messed up pattern, just like Pi or the Golden ratio. We can almost make out familiar circles, but when we attempt to measure and collect the data we fail miserably.

Mind body dualism is a branch of philosophy concerned with linking and explaining the relationship(s) between mind and body. Sub categories also include: consciousness

Substance dualism - asserts that mind and matter are fundamentally distinct kinds of substances.
Property dualism suggests that the ontological distinction lies in the differences between properties of mind and matter
Predicate dualism -claims the irreducibility of mental predicates to physical predicates

Light Wave Dynamics of Vision

"Let there be Light!"

Have you ever wondered how it is you are able to see? Our eye's only seem to work when there is light available. Without light, we are virtually blind to seeing. If you deduced the reason by now, it's because light is what enables us to see in the first place.
In order to understand how we see, we need to understand what light is. Most simply, light is energy, which means it has a wave nature.

Light's wave nature

The Aurora Borealis illustrates the wave quality of light as it streams across the night sky. But, did you know that light is actually composed of extremely small packet's of energy called quanta?

Photon's

It's ok if you don't remember much of this, as I couldn't expect you to considering the complexity, but Quanta were first discovered and described by Max Planck, a famous physicist who, by discovering 4 equations on light, kick started modern physics, paving the way for Einstein, Quantum Mechanics, et al.

Planck presented his discoveries at the turn of the century so it's been a little over 100 years since those first steps in modern physics. Likewise, understanding Planck's constant is very useful in beginning physics as well. Otherwise, the Quanta light is composed of is the smallest unit of energy. As a result, it is small. Extremely small. I can't really stress that enough ha-ha, but basically the photon is the basic unit of energy to be absorbed and emitted as light by all things including photosynthesis in plants or sight in humans.

Vision

What actually happens, believe it or not, is as the photons enter your eye they are scattered as they enter and travel through the nerve pathways. We need to remember here that energy is equivalent to information; that is, you cannot have information without first having energy, like the electricity being the information processing in a computer, the electricity of light is likewise entering nerves in your eyes which conduct the information.

To process light information, you have what's called photoreceptor cells. Photo is similar to photon, which is an alternate name for quanta (i.e. a light particle).

Additionally, you have two types of photoreceptor cells in your eye. Maybe you have heard of them, they are called rods and cones.

Our best measurements of the human eye indicate that each one has about 126 million rod cells and 6 million cone cells so the light can be broken down into over 130 million different parts or pixels. The same thing happens on computers. Images are built out of pixels which are tiny packet's of information. Typically the more pixels you have, the better image quality you also have. Although that quality is nowhere near what the human eye is capable of, Information Technology grows tremendously every year and it shouldn't be too very much longer don't you think? Otherwise, you can also use the example of televisions, as if you have ever had one you've most certainly seen what's called "snow". Snow, if you know what I'm talking about, is another word for bad reception. When it happens, all you see on the television screen is little gray and white dots that are constantly appearing and disappearing. The dots are pixels, or the bits of information that make up an image.

So now you know why or should I say how the human mind is more powerful than computers at least, but we still haven't gotten too the dual nature. Congratulations if you made it this far, but let's continue...

Light Nature

Light has a wave-particle duality. This is a physics term. It just means that light behaves as both a wave and a particle depending on how you look at it. Wave-Particle duality is extremely important and fundamental in physics though. As a result it is a core idea in most fields of study, being the primary reason Quantum Mechanics was devised for example.

Quantum Mechanics was needed after Einstein to explain Wave-Particle Duality. Basically, Einsteins and others physics contributions like Relativity theory led to a heck of a lot of breakthroughs in science and technology. As a result, the physicist had better and newer tools or technology to work with because they just invented them with all their new theories. This may sound a bit crazy but it's quite true and happens quite often. Physics is actually very profitable. For example, many know this already but the internet was created by and for CERN by workers there including an engineer and physicist who were working on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The LHC was just recently completed last year (2009), becoming fully operational. It is expected and already producing many breakthroughs in physics and science, will lead to a lot of technology growth and innovation, and probably could/will pull the world out of financial downturn, &, with the job market it will most probably be stimulating starting this year. (Be Excited-It's the future)

In the fall of last year, for example, the LHC was sending protons, which are the primary or main components of atoms, hurling at the speed of light into one another. The collisions produced beautiful light displays, and the data collected on the computers will be taking a while to decipher, but a lot of new, and interesting results were definitely achieved.

The reason scientists accelerated protons to the speed of light is because in addition to being the smallest thing in the universe (quanta), light is also the fastest.

If that isn't enough, light is also has a relationship with time. According to relativity theory, the faster one travels and approaches the speed of light, the more time external to oneself speeds up. This is duality too. Since you could also say that it is the time of yourself that slows down. In a sense, you time travel. By changing speed, we can change time. The only problem with this is that we can't go that fast yet.

The speed of light is really really fast. Like the quanta being extremely small, too I can't describe enough too you how incredibly fast light is. To give an example, light can travel about 4 times around the earth in about 1 second; That's equal to about 186,000 MPH or 300,000 KM. How exactly light is able to travel so fast is still a mystery, but appears to have to do with the properties of light itself.

In many ways the shape of objects determines how they travel. A spear for example will throw much farther than a heavy book, even though they may weigh about the same. The same is thought of light, only light comes in my different flavors or types. There are literally an infinite number of frequencies or wave types that can represent light. Since each type of wave is different than any other, they each have different characteristics and behaviors. Some may travel faster or slower than others for example; or some wavelengths are seen as a red color, others may be green.

I always wondered how abundant light is in the universe. Possibly, could it really be the most abundant thing?

You know, if you talk to most any neuroscientist he or she will most likely have a lot to tell you about the soul and human consciousness.

The most popular reason is because the soul is or mind is evidenced as a collection of electromagnetic frequencies called brain waves which are activated and controlled by both conscious awareness or sentient control as well as automatically.

This may seem amazing, but the entire system of electromagnetic conductive systems in the body is referred to as the Central and Peripheral nervous system (CNS & PNS). The CNS is generally the part of you which is conscious while the PNS is automatic like breathing.

When we sleep the CNS, which composes the brain, the brain stem, and the spinal cord, changes but the PNS remains active and constant.

You see, In order to explain how the mind relates to the body, I actually don't have to use new theories or information. It can be done using existing and old ones. Some idea's on duality are old as human's themselves you know. Yin Yang, for example, has been around since, at the very least, recorded history or about 6 thousand years. Yin-Yang is a symbol of universal energy and duality.

Energy in the body is I think what fascinates us most. Energy propagates as waves through space-time which is directly indetectable as a substance or thing, however we can measure it's effects [Wave Nature]. As a result, we have discovered that there is a kind of symphony being played out in our heads. A note in this symphony can represent a thought or idea. At any one time, our brains are processing information when thinking about a subject. Much of the information is either already organized, or in the process of being organized, so, like a real symphony, there is a definite rhythm and flow to our thoughts.

Thought is essentially a collection of brain waves. Each time you produce a thought or think about something, you are sending impulses of information along nerve pathways. These impulses or brain waves are typically divided into four groups that represent a category which describes our state of being during the various brain wave frequencies. The frequencies of a normal human can be said to range between 0 & 40 Hz. but it is not altogether clear and definitions vary. Typically the categories are thus:

Delta
0-4 Hz
Deep sleep

Theta
4-7 Hz
Light sleep
Theta frequencies are supposed Associated with relaxation, meditation, and creativity. For many people and proponents of binaural's, theta waves are a favorite.

Alpha
8-12 Hz
Alpha is said to be the brain waves that are dominant in the relaxed or normal state of mind.

Beta
12-30Hz
Awake. Beta generally responds to the point when you actually feel awake in your day.

Gamma
30+hz
(?)
What happens in Gamma state? Is it unhealthy? Is it useful in any way? We simply don't yet know, as most ideas are hypothesis which don't have a lot of evidence.

Wave Nature

Have you ever thought or wondered about waves?

It might not be immediately apparent but waves are pure energy. A wave is defined as an oscillating or vibrating disturbance in space-time. Space-time can be any medium, such as the air or atmosphere. If we create a sound for example, that sound at the very least exists or propagates in the air itself (Assuming you're on planet Earth that is :p). Normally we wouldn't notice since air is invisible, and we don't see sound, we hear it. In this we are limited by our perceptions, however there are thankfully some very nice tools and instruments in science that we can use to see these things that we couldn't see otherwise.

Hearing Waves

The Cocklear is the part of the ear that picks up and interpret's sound waves. It's basically a spectrum: higher sounds are associated with one end, while lower sounds are heard at the other. When the sound waves enter the ear, they strike part of the cochlear. The sound waves themselves are like keys and the ear itself is the key hole. Only thing is, there are many different types of keys (Sounds) so in a sense you need a very complex key hole with many different key slots. And that's basically how the ear works: only certain sounds are able to strike certain parts of the cocklea. Since waves are really just pure energy, and energy is really just information after all, then the brain and ear can generall interpret most sounds by the effect they produce. So when you hear a sound, it's because the cochlear in your ear is vibrating which then sends the information to your mind which you interpret in a very small fraction of a second.

Why?

If you think of energy or waves in terms of equilibrium, it shouldn't be too difficult to see why a wave is just energy expanding outwards. Equilibrium is the scientific term for balance you could say. If there is too much of a thing concentrated, like sugar in a water solution, it just means that when you apply energy by shaking it, producing waves, then the waves are going to attempt to evenly distribute the sugar throughout the water.

Each time a note is played, there is an object striking another object. When the objects meet or impact, wave energy is released from the objects. The same is true if you tap your finger on a wooden surface. On the moment of impact, energy is released, which you hear as sound.

The energy that is released, contained, and absorbed by objects produces vibrations which disturb and travel throughout the whole medium until they are all used up or absorbed by all the stuff in the medium. Basically, that just means that the energy of any thing or system will eventually disperse and be reabsorbed due to equilibrium or balance.

Beyond Waves

So far, we have a pretty good explanation of a wave, however there is a deep dark secret about waves that you should be aware of if you really want to understand what they are.

A wave is energy, but it's also non-physical. Matter is physical and we know that matter and energy are equivalent but a wave is a specific type of energy that does not contain a physical form. As an example of what I mean think of space and time itself. Space-time is the dimensions. They are:

Length,
Width,
Height,
&
Time

To explain what I mean, consider the dimensions. All are accepted as real, all have mathematical symbols to represent them and are used to describe reality, yet none of them have any concrete physical substance or form. That is, waves are unable to be directly detected. We only view them by their effects or relationships to matter or on other things. The wave is similar to space-time in this fashion in that space-time, or the dimensions of length, width, height, and time, are non-physical things.

And so, as far as anyone can tell, but no one, not even Albert Einstein could quite understand or figure out, the wave is exactly the same or similar too space-time, and is therefore given as a distortion in or through space and time. Waves are strange eh?

Wave-Particle Duality

Let me start out by saying that there is an immense amount of confusion regarding the idea of wave-particle duality in physics. To clear this up, we first need to know what a wave and a particle is.

Both a wave and a particle are energy. The wave specifically is energy but the particle can be said to be matter, but since matter is energy anyways (Energy=Matter; matter-energy) just in a different form so to speak, then the particle is also energy.

How exactly do we explain this? If you think back to some ancient philosophies, you might recall that many of them, like Buddhism, have a lot to say about illusion.

Currently, modern physics, in dealing with the wave-particle duality or nature of existence (matter-energy) has also come to the conclusion that certain things are illusory or a kind of phenomena. To explain, imagine if you had some energy, like electricity or heat, and you were able to compress it. You need to remember pure energy is not physical, but for some reason, when it's compressed then it starts to appear physical or take on physical characteristics. This is the same principle behind all matter, where all matter is essentially just thought to be really compressed or dense energy. There are many different types of theories of course (String theory, M-Theory, Quantum theory, Relativity, etc...) but they all share this idea in common only they explain it in different ways. String theory for example, say's that matter is produced by a kind of vibrating string. This is really just an attempt to unify the wave and the particle duality. Imagine the string is represented as both the irrational circle and the rational line. Vibrations of the string essentially are thought to either produce or reflect dense energies, thus tying itself in with matter-energy duality, where energy, in the form of these strange new vibrating strings, creates or forms into matter.

If a string is just a vibrating line, and a line is just a collection of points, then it's easy to see why the wave is chaotic and unpredictable. Each point can represent a different particle; frequency; or type of wave. Similarly there are many different types of energy but all energy behaves as a wave. When we equate this concept to particles in physics, we may then understand that physical descriptions of things are unreliable, inaccurate, and down right flawed.

Brief History of Wave-Particle Physics:

Classical:

Democritus 460 BC – c. 370 BC - First to propose atomic theory that all matter was composed of individual particles. Physics essentially started with his idea, as others went on to build off it.

Aristotle 384 BC – 322 BC - Proposed that light was a disturbance in air and therefore is a wave.

Alhazen 965 - 1035 a.d. - Arabic scientist who wrote first comprehensive treatise on optics where he describes light as composed of particles.

René Descartes 1596-1650 - Very well known and respected philosopher who advocated the wave for describing nature. Originator of the phrase, "I think therefore I am."

Isaac Newton 1643-1727 - Widely considered the father of classical physics, Newton argued more for the particle nature of light.

Modern:

James Clerk Maxwell 1831 – 1879 - Discovered 4 simple equations that described the wave nature of light. The equations became the starting point for modern physics, particularly Einstein's Relativity and Quantum mechanics of the 20th century. The equations Maxwell produced described different types of light as different types of waves instead of the particles proposed by Newton and others. For example, red light would be one kind of wave energy, while blue light is another.

Albert Einstein - Physics genius of the 20th century who Defined the wave nature of light as being a constant or relationship to time and space as based on Maxwell's equations. E=MC2 where E can be the frequency or type of wave it is which is equal to the mass of the object multiplied by the speed of it's energy (Light) squared, which is ultimately a description of how energy propagates through space. Squaring, likewise, is another aspect of the dual nature in the it involves two directions to represent space like the dimensions of length and width.

Duality

Have you ever wondered why so many things seem to have a dual nature? Wave-particle duality in physics for example, or the yin-yang of Eastern philosophy. Duality in nature seems to be everywhere when you really think about it. There are so many amazing and interesting topics and ideas that have to do with duality in every field of knowledge. In physiology and psychology we are immediately interested and drawn to the differences and questions regarding the soul and mind body dual nature mystery for example. When we attempt to delve deeper into the mystery we are confronted with questions about a possible relationships between science, or the study of existence, with that of divinity, represented by one's consciousness.

If any of this sounds intriguing, yet, consider that the sum total of the idea presented as the dual nature or duality has been a fundamental problem for the last 6 thousand years or so of recorded history. Many a philosopher and scientists have spent their entire lives trying to understand the dual nature. Pi for example is commonly known to become an obsession in itself. The many behaviours of circles or circular objects is easily described in a dual nature. We can attribute a spin of the circular earth, for example, as going in one of two directions: Clockwise or counterclockwise. At first this may seem trivial, but currently, spin is actually wholly fundamental in describing the nature of existence and matter. Likewise in pool, a capable player is able to direct and control the spin of pool balls to produce desired results. When the pool ball is spun, you see, instead of traveling in a straight line, it can instead travel in a curve while spinning as it travels. The spin is what causes the curve, and the excellent pool hustler is a master at causing it, letting him bypass an 8-ball if it get's in the way of his shot by curving his shot around instead of straight, thereby scoring a sink.

Perhaps on second glance some of this may all seem to be very simple and almost obvious information, yet very few people know of it's idea or related concepts. Einstein spent his last day's trying to solve the fundamental duality problems in physics, trying to unify the dual nature that is (Wave-particle, matter-energy, space-time, etc...). Many times when taking a closer look these problems appear irrational, Pi, as mentioned, is a perfect example. Pi, if you remember from highschool geometry, is the ratio of a circles circumference or distance around to it's diameter or distance through. Logically you can look at the circle and decide for yourself if it can be divided into equal parts as you can draw any line through it to divide, and more lines if you choose too. The problem is, no matter how we divide up a circle, we can never get an equal or equivalent amount to what we might expect.

So, as illustated by our circle, the dual nature is easily viewed but not well understood. How it all make's sense yet being irrational at the same time is the mystery I will therefore devote time and effort to researching, networking, organizing, and understanding all things Dual Nature.
